Bixby Remap - Who has done it?

Bkplugin just updated so their remapping tool is working. However, I get annoyed when Bixby open for a milisecond before the mapped app opens. Anyway to avoid Bixby from opening at all. Would like to see the app that is mapped open instantly when the button is pressed without lag. Anyone experiencing the same?

With Bixby Remapper I don't see Bixby, not even for a millisecond. I guess the best thing for you to do is try them all to see which one works best for you.

It looks like if you've already used, launched or setup Bixby you'll need to somehow disable it in order for remapping apps to work. Having tried Bixby and not liking it on my S8 made me not even want to start Bixby when I got my Note 8 and I immediately remapped it. So it doesn't even open when I press the button. My app that I have mapped to it opens instantly.

I've used bxactions both ways: Bixby disabled (dumped data, did not wake it up) and Bixby enabled.

Bxactions didn't work for me with Bixby disabled - nothing happens on the button push. It worked when Bixby was enabled.

I plan to take a look at Button Remapper.

Button Remapper works exactly like bxactions - a bit of a flash of Bixby. Not too bad though.

I use Button Remapper and don't get the Bixby flash. I have the button set to disabled in the Bixby app and everything works great.

Ah this actually worked out. I ended up clearing the data for Bixby home and voice, essentially setting the app back to default. Used Bixby remapped. Now I no longer get Bixby home popping up.

I considered remapping the Bixby button when I first got the Note 8, but i tried it for a few days and now i feel i cant do without it! I discovered the custom commands that automate and stack tasks. Its incredibly useful! Using the button is also quicker and more reliable than using the voice wake up. I got rid of the option to swipe left from the home screen onto it because i just tap the bixby button and it takes me to the bixby home. I still use google for online questions, but honestly, bixby is indispensable for me at this point. Its not meant to compete with google. It was the thing I least looked forward to in the note 8, complaining that there would be this extra button, but now I feel its the most stand-out feature of the phone.

I just remapped mine. Google Assistant FTW! I cleared data for all apps associated with Bixby, then installed bxActions, followed the instructions and, boom, good to go. No Bixby flash either.

I must be the black sheep around here, I actually use Bixby and don't hate it at all. Liking a lot the ease of use of the quick commands, a simple Tasker replacement.

Well, I've spent some time with this, and I get a different result that the posters above.

Regardless of the app (bxactions or Bixby Remapper), the apps won't work unless Bixby is setup and left on, with the Bixby button enabled. If I disable the app, or leave the app enabled but disable the button, neither apps work.

When they do work, they work in an identical fashion. I push the button, a Bixby event is obviously caught by the app, and the app rushes to display the "remapped" app instead. In that initial second or so, Bixby is displayed. Sometimes it's just the "Bixby bubbles" display.

Either way, I am left with something that looks like I coded it up in 60 seconds myself. Sort of like a kludge. Very obvious that it's catching an event and trying to trick the user. I am just not feeling it.

I've run through every iteration of installing these apps with Bixby fully enabled, disabled, enabled with the button disabled, you name it. Just not getting a polished result.

I'll try BK Disabler next. Chances are, it endeavors to catch the button press event, just like the other apps, its a typical technique. But, maybe that will work better on my N8. I'll try that when I get the time.

Hi. Does anyone know how to re-activate Bixby? After it was updated with the option to disable the Bixby button, or do nothing when pressed, I have searched and I cant find a way to run Bixby again... :)

Thanks!

Sure - I've done it a million times recently to test these button remapping apps.

Just go into Settings/Apps and then for each Bixby app, click storage and dump whatever data is there. All of it.

Then press the Bixby button and you are off-to-the-races!

Happy to help, now that I have so much experience with that freak'in Bixby button!

nope. I didn't jump on the childish hate wagon and gave it a fair try even though so many said it was terrible.
No, it's not. it's actually a pretty cool feature so Bixby is right where Samsung put it, and I like it.
