Bixby Reviews / Discussion

I think this article is so far the best detailed and explanatory piece that you may find on the web right now. Plus it gives you exactly the perspective I got from Bixby since it was announced, it doesn't come to replace Google Assistant it will complement it and so far the functions I'm using it for have been great and helpful. Instead of going through 4 or 5 steps to Optimize the phone (using Device management app) I simply press the Bixby Button and say "optimize phone", as simple as that.

I hope they wake up and turn this into a convenience key like other devices - Samsung has way too many redundant apps!!!!!!!!!!! disable!!!!! no delete it lol - the reviews I see are "meh" I much rather use the button for something useful. I don't even use Google assistant it's all trash and gimmicky

Different strokes for different people. I use Assistant pretty often since I have a Google Home speaker.

Agreed. I started with the free Google Home with the G6, then got another, then added smart switches. I'm waiting on Ikea's smart lighting to get implemented and then I'll go that route.

Now that I've got a few things set up I love it and it's extremely useful.

I know I just loathe it contradicts the ecosystem if I can't remove any app I want...

Understandable. Some really hate the dupe apps. I mainly just ignore them... Although it was nice having a Pixel and not having to worry about bloat or dupe apps at all. Just all good and done :).

AHhh the good ol pixel ! I miss my 6P kinda LOL and yes I try to ignore but whew my anxiety gets the best of me, disable is simply not enough LOL AHHAHAH I NEED IT GONE

I was luck enough to get beta test Bixby Voice and so far it is great, it has many astounding features and is really handy

I got Bixby update this week installed it and it worked great for two days. The other night put on charger and went to bed woke up next day and Bixby wouldn't respond to anything I would say.I had a Google app update overnight thinking that screwed things up.What I did to get things working again was remove samsung account in Bixby settings and cleaned all apps cache with Bixby restarted phone and added samsung account and redid Bixby setup. All is good again !!

I've been at it comparing the same commands with both Bixby and Google Assistant. And can say bixby is winning. And that says a lot as it's still in beta. From system settings to sharing photos. You can get more of a true hands free experience with Bixby.

Enjoying the Beta-testing experience but seeing some complaints in the forums from those who apparently missed this caveat. It looks like it will be pretty useful app. I could never get Google to work from a locked screen (even with the correct setting) but this had been no problem with bixby. seems to have a few tricks up its sleeve for stuff it can do in your phone that G cannot.

I'm liking Bixby so far! Simple but useful commands for me that googe can't do: "close all apps", "clean memoy" "optimize phone".

So, who knows what level you need to get to in order to unlock the black background?

Yes, I have once again re-enabled Bixby to give it yet another chance.

I use Google assistant mainly for sending texts and making calls. Bixby forces you to use Samsung messages, it is buggy, sometimes it prints the message out sometimes it doesn't, but most annoying is when it does print the message out it tells you to push send.

Google assistant, it prints it out, then asks if you want to send, change, or cancel, totally hands free. I can also use textra, not forced to use Samsung messages. Bixby can do this also, there's a reason you have default messaging, Samsung is forcing us to use their messaging app.

You can say send to Bixby without having to press the button.

When talking to Bixby, you dont have to wait for the prompt sound before saying the commands.

Just press the button and say the command. Or when you are calling Bixby, just say "Hi Bixby show me the latest pictures" with no pause in between "hi bixby" and "show me the latest pictures". It will still work.

I really want to like it, and I've found a couple of things to be cool, but mostly I find it irritating and slow. I think it is super cool to say "Open camera and take a slow motion video". I find it really irritating to say "Send a message to Pedro" and all I get is a list of apps to open, or maybe a list of the one person in my contacts named Pedro.

Where I think it could shine for me is in launching rarely used apps. Being able to say "Open Rare Turtle Finder" could be nice. If I can get into the habit of using it.

Or maybe I just need more training, or I need to train the software more.

]Maybe Samsung are just getting the bare bones of Bixby up first?
Hopefully speed will come when they start to put some flesh on those bones?
I'm in the U.K, so don't have access to even the Beta programme, but it sounds exiting!
I'm going to have to live my "Beta Bixby" experience vicariously through you guys lol.

I wonder if Samsung will allow Bixby to unlock the phone. That would be so nice to just sat Hi Bixby send text to... Have the phone unlock open sms and prompt you to dictate your message and send.
