black availability?

Ok so as most of us have seen with our preorders there is no option for black or it states that the black will be available "soon."

Do we have any real info on why the black is seemingly delayed? Could it just be they dont want to preorder the black, which would be a shame since i want to do the at&t preorder for that media link thing.

I see some are stating QA issues and some are even saying there is chipping in the black paint. But wait isnt the black anodized? There is no chipping something thats anodized seeing that process is basically dying the metal, it can be scratched afterwords but not chipped. i they didnt switch to black pain did they imho that would probably cost more money and time and take away from the premium aluminum feel.

I am interested in this too, I am with sprint and havent had an option for black yet. The black looks alot better to me imo.

So, I checked HTC's website and they have a sign up page for the black One. I'm hoping that it's not just a general One release but specific to black.

I am in the same situation. To try to make a long and twisted story short. I didn't find any references to preorder the black model at HTC, Best Buy and Sprint. I found the black phone offered at Wirefly and Newegg and preordered the black phone at Newegg because it was cheaper. Tuesday, I received an email from Newegg that they heard from Sprint that there would be a delay in delivering the black phone and said that I could change my order to the silver model without losing my place in line.

In the mean time, I spoke with Best Buy, Sprint and HTC about the black phone's availabiity. Best Buy and Sprint said that they didn't know when it would be availabe, it was not available for preorder and HTC said they didn't know, one person said that HTC was surprised about the demand for the black phone and wasn't prepared for it. In any case, the phone wouldn't be available in the near future. Note: The black phone is not on Best Buy's, Sprint's and HTC's website as being available. I spoke with Shopamerica - the company selling the phone for HTC today and they also mentioned the larger than expected demand for the black phone and said that it wouldn't be coming. I spoke with HTC's parts and production department and they didn't know anything about it. I called Sprint this afternoon and they told me that the black phone wasn't available and then spoke with someone at a Sprint store and she said that as far as she knows they will have the black version for launch.

Other people have posted that the black version will not be available in the US, but i have seen demo models of both the silver and black phones at a Best Buy.

So I am a little confused, but it seems likely that we won't be seeing the black version in the near future and will, reluctantly, change my pre-order to the silver model.

I hope that this has helped and not made things even more confusing.

I was told the black version was coming to carriers so I asked about it being available through HTC unlocked and that's the response I got. Also, just a reminder, if any of you bought from a third party it isn't covered by HTC. They keep reiterating that to me over and over, yet they keep linking me to a third party page for some reason.

It shouldn't be too much longer on the black, I would think. This part supplier(probably the best,most trusted part supplier I've found yet) has the black back housing for the One. If part resellers are able to get stock on the black backs then hopefully the whole phone should be soon to release.

Im really hoping the black comes soon, as in before the summer. I really need to replace my aging incredible with sokething but i juat dont like the silver/white. To ke the white plastics will yellow easily especially with hand oils and sweat on them and to me thats just dirty looking. White just isbt for me, and that black is so nice and subdoed i love it.
Ive alao seen reports of BBs displaying black models so im sure itll be soon enough and there wont be an embargo on the US getting black.
I guess keep this thread posted. Ill, in the meantime, may go out searching for one and see if i can snag it from a BB or something.

Local stores have the silver on display but it just doesnt click with me. it also doesnt help that they have ti secured steadfast so that ruins the feel of it, and the demo resets itself every 30 seconds.

see the walmart thread. they list the 32gb black model for $169.99 and when i called, they claimed that the black will indeed start shipping on 4/19.

Never bought a phone from a 3rd party but ill check it out, reaaaaallly want the black phone with At&t and the sooner the better. Thanks for the info.
