I have a black dot in the middle of my notification screen on my new S23 ultra. How can I remove it? TIA

Settings -Display - Camera cutout

There you can change to have a black bar instead of hole punch.

You have to do it per app basis, you can't hide the camera cutout on the home screen.

May be watch this video and it'll give you an idea on how to do this. The video is for S22 Ultra but applies for S23 Ultra as well.

If you don't like seeing the punchhole on your homescreen, consider using a wallpaper that incorporates the punchhole into its design:

This is counter to what you were originally asking about (i.e., trying to get rid of the punchhole), but Notification light for Samsung (I think previously known as AODNotify) simulates an LED notification light by creating a ring around the punchhole that will light up when you get a notification.

I'm guessing you can change the color of the ring around the punchhole using that app, but there's no way to change the color of the punchhole itself, because it's simply clear glass over the selfie camera. There's no display overlying the camera.

You can get a fold 3 or 4 and you can hardly see that black hole. I wish they would incorporate that to the S series. I would pay $100 extra to not have a selfie camera.

Totally not on topic, but I remember seeing a wallpaper for the S10+ (which had two cameras on the left of the screen) that was a picture of Johnny 5 and the front facing cameras WERE HIS EYES!
