Black screen of death!

I have had this happen on almost every android device I have ever owned including my note 20. Don't know the cause just happy I have been able to recover.

Bought my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra on the first day of release. 13 months and 7 days later my phone does not show any display. Contacted Samsung and there reply is the phone is out of warranty after 12 months and they will do nothing. $1300 and 13 months later I can get no help from Samsung. I brought the phone in to a repair shop and they took it apart to change out the frame. That did not work and the Tech told me that the motherboard is bad. Guess I need to switch to a different cell phone manufacture.

Back in 2015, I set the alarm on my Note 5, went to sleep, and woke up suddenly about 10 minutes after my delivery appointment to a black screen, with a flashing notification light, and audio notifications, but a black screen, with no response. I got dressed, raced up the street to the receiver, and used my tablet to look up how to reset the phone, which recovered immediately. My Note 9 did it once, too, but I just automatically Vol down, power, and it never did it again. But after that point, I used the alarm on my truck's stereo to back up my phone. It's a weird thing that happens, sometimes, it seems.

What manufacturers have a longer warranty? 1 year is pretty standard for cell phone unless you want o pay an extra 15 bucks a month

I also bought my Note20 Ultra pre-order & unlocked from Samsung. A few days ago I woke up to the device working normally but mid day when I picked it up, screen was black & works not although device was still working. Samsung offered the same option to me ~ nothing.. The only thing they did was give me a few locations for the "I Break U Fix" service centers which are authorized centers for repair. I tried everything I found online, but wasn't as lucky as you. Had ins. so I did get replacement, but I hate the thought of sending my old device in with all my data, card numbers etc still on it.. besides all my pics/docs I can't transfer over. Anyone know a way to re-set/wipe or transfer data from a cell with black screen ?

Similar situation with S21ultra that went to Samsung for black screen repair twice and ultimately refunded.
My solution before sending to Samsung both times was to connect to PC (phone was working, just black screen) and once recognized as device on PC erase every file I could see on the phone via PC. That was six months ago, no problems regarding personal info since.

I know that's a bit dramatic, but that's exactly what's happened to my N20U.
Put it on to charge, disconnected and bam! No reaction from the screen at all and all black.
I've tried all the recommendations like vol down and pwr, but no dice.
It is on, because I hear the notifications, so it's not completely dead.
The phone is less than two months and has never been dropped, blah blah.
Pretty annoyed actually and I'm wondering if anyone else has suffered this and if so, what did they do?
Thanks.

Yes was like that to me screen was dead but i can input pass by tapping screen if guessed correctly, heard notifications or can answer calls... Guarantee card or how it is helped Samsung replaced my screen (free) and now 1 year no problems 😅

Just out of curiosity, have you tried hooking it up to a cable attached to your laptop or desktop computer? Then you're not really using the phone screen and you may be able to see things on your desktop or laptop since the phone otherwise seems to function

If that works, you can transfer everything over and wipe everything else out
