Black screen..? only youtube works on chromecast

Hello,

I bought a chromecast in the uk but I use it in Portugal in my parents house. It worked fine for about a year, now when I try to cast, the TV only shows a black screen, youtube videos work ok, if slightly lagged but thats it, nothing else works. It says on the browser tab that it is casting though.

I've looked in a lot of forums but this doesn't seem to be a common problem.
I'm looking at just getting a new one but I don't want the same to happen.
Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to Android Central! Use the Google Cast app on your phone to reboot the Chromecast device. If that doesn't help, consider doing a factory reset of the Chromecast, then set it back up again.
