I just got a BLU Life One X during the first 2 days of $50 discount sale, down to $99. This is quite amazing as less than 6 months ago I bought a Moto E LTE for the exact same price and the BLU is quite the step up for me.

So far, so good. The 1080p screen is beautiful - also, gigantic, in comparison to the 4.5" I'm used to. Used RAM hovers around 1GB, leaving the other 1GB free. Performance is quite snappy. I can't comment on how it compares to flagships like the Galaxy S6, but coming from the Moto E LTE, this thing is fast. Things load very quickly, since RAM is not a problem (which it was in the Moto E) and switching back and forth from opened apps seems instant to me.

I haven't had much time to play with the camera yet, I plan to do so today (I just got the phone last night at 7.30pm). I took a test shot earlier today of frozen morning dew and details seems very good. Here's the sample, downsized by the Google Photos app to High Quality:

Battery seems to be doing fine - it's been up for 4h today and it's at %90 still. The phone came with %63 charge that went down to %28 after downloading my regular 42 apps and setting everything up. I left the phone as it was during the night, not charging, and it only went down to %24, quite good. I'll need a couple weeks to evaluate how long battery lasts properly, but so far, it looks promising.

That's it for now, a quick initial impression at the past 12h with the phone. I hope it lasts until tomorrow night as the battery indicator suggests (although I doubt it, first charges are always weird). I'm traveling internationally on Monday and I'd like the phone to be on its 2nd charge so it's hopefully stabilized the battery duration. We'll see.

Questions or comments? I'll be happy to answer!

It is an improvement over the Moto e 2nd gen for sure, however I got a few at $10 a pop. Not sure if it is 10x better than the Moto e 2nd gen.

My initial impressions were decent, too, given the price -- until I actually tried to have a conversation on the stupid thing. The screen keeps turning on during my calls, and then my cheek pushes random things. Not to mention that it's REEEEALLLLY obnoxious to have that bright light pop up right in your face -- especially at night in bed or something. Ugh. I've tried turning on the pocket sensor setting. No help. Also, it seems like when the screen turns on during a call, sometimes the person can't hear me any longer. I can hear them saying, "Hello? Hello?" but they can't hear me. I was planning to switch from Verizon to AT&T with this phone, but it's pretty much unusable as an actual phone. Very disappointed. Glad I kept my Verizon account active just in case.

Anyone know where to find TPU cases?

Ordered black and white ones during Amazon $50 off sale, got black one last week, still waiting for white one, supposedly tomorrow. Initial impressions so far are good, my 11 daughter loves this over her 2012 Moto G, who wouldn't? Haha.. Battery life good, nice screen. Good value.

I tried to change the ringtone to my one files. I had to drop my files into the ringtone directory, but even after I select the one I want, it works once, then reverts to the old ringtone. Any ideas or suggestions?

Anyone looking for TPU cases...this is the exact same phone hardware as the WIKO Fever 4G and there are TPU cases for that on Ebay.

USA Cover Case Gel TPU Matte Wiko Fever | eBay

I've ordered one. Looks like exact fit . It's also the same phone as the Micromax 5 e481. Seems various retailers buy this same hardware from the Chinese manufacturer and then its badge engineering.

Hello mates.

This is my question: I just received my Blu Life One x (2016). Do I have to charge right away the battery to 100% or do I have to exhaust the battery first and then make the first charge?

Thanks!

From what I've heard, modern lithium batteries don't need to be trained by charge-depletion cycles. In fact, better to keep them topped up.

Here's the TPU case I ordered from eBay for the wiko fever. Near perfect fit. All ports and buttons accessible.

So I have had this phone two weeks.

Been working like a champ, I had a Samsung Galaxy 3 and this phone seems faster and more responsive.
The speaker is very poor. Speakphone function is not so great, I use a small blue tooth speaker near my desk for calls like that and it's fine.

It took me a while to figure out how to assign ringtones to people, got all that figured out.

It's nice to see cases that are reasonable finally being sold.

Battery life is most impressive, use the phone on a regular basis, and by days end I'm at 50-60%

SO worth the Amazon deal of $99.95 when it was around, I should of bought a 2nd!

I dropped my BLU life one X 2016 last night and cracked the screen bad. I've only had it 2 weeks, I'm pretty disappointed. I'm waiting to hear back from BLU on if I can get the touch screen replaced, but if not does anyone know where I can get parts for this phone? All the replacement touchscreens I've found on ebay were from different models, like the L122 and others, not the 2016 Life one X which is model L0070UU. Does anyone know where to get a replacement touchscreen for my phone, or if any of the older screens are cross compatible? Thanks.

FYI - a wireless update just came out. Downloading now!

It's just minor bug fixes according to BLU. Either way, this looks good for the 6.0 update we're supposed to get in the next couple months.

Tonypal, you said,

It took me a while to figure out how to assign ringtones to people, got all that figured out.

Care to share how you did it?

I have a couple other questions for the group:

How can I change the tiles in the Quick Settings panel? I don't need some of them, and would like to change their arrangement.

When I close the cover, in the window it shows the time and a notifications view and a music player control view. Can those be changed?

Got the phone yesterday, and it's very nice compared to my last phone. But that one was rooted and running a custom ROM, so I'm kind of used to being able to customize everything exactly the way I want it.

Ringtones:

go to contacts.
select the contact you want the ringer for.
click the pencil icon on the top.
then click the three dots on the right.
select :Set Ringtone
(then select the ringtone you want)
Then - most important, push the "check" symbol on the top left to save.

Hope that helps!

Phone ring tone
is there a way to change the phone ringtone? Have tried but it only allows the ringtones in the stock... this is a simple issue on samsung but apparently not on blu.... any recommendations?
