New BLU user here so you'll probably see a few dumb questions from me here for a while. BTW, I chose this phone because it looked like the best bang-for-the-buck phone that supports audio devices with USB-OTG (boy, this is something that's really hard to find out about unless you're looking at $500+ Samsung phones)

I was tickled to find the "Text Recognition" option under the camera options, and was even more excited when I saw that it worked pretty well. I took a photo of a magazine page, it chugged along a bit and presented me with both the photo and a page of the text in an editor so I could fix its mistakes. I was puzzled, though, about how to save it. I clicked on a couple of buttons and what was saved was the photo and the text as a PNG file.

What I'm looking for is how to save the text as text so I can save it in a file or copy and paste from it into something else.

Anyone figure that out yet?

Well, maybe I can make this easier - - or harder. As a reminder, the job is to take a picture of a page of printed text and end up with a file of the text that can be editied with a normal text editor.

I had a phone conversation with a reasonbly knowledgable support person at BLU who understood what my problem was, and the next day got back to me with the simple answer - "you can't do that with what you have." The recommendation was to find a third party app. Any suggestions?

The problem is that the text editor that it throws you into once it's scanned the image is the "Notes" app on the phone, which only saves your notes as a PNG file, not a TXT file. And of course that's hard-wired so you don't have a choice of editors. By the way, once I figured that out, I replaced Notes with a real text editor.

This isn't a high priority project. If I need to do this (maybe before the next blue moon, maybe after) I have a scanner on my real computer that does the job just fine. I was just bugged because BLU almost got it right
