Hi, I have been using my LG G3 for quite some time now without this issue. As of this post I am using Android version 6.0. Today I hopped in my car, and I notice that despite my phone saying my Bluetooth is synced with my car I could not play any music through my car. I also noticed the words "audio disconnected" still displaying on the receiver. I thought this was odd as I had absolutely zero problems as of yesterday, nor have I ever had this issue since I installed the new stereo in my car last November. There is an LED on the receiver which shows whether or not a phone is connected via Bluetooth, and that light was on! "What the hell?" I kept saying to myself.

Upon looking in my phone's Bluetooth settings, I find that call audio is indeed connected. However, normally this reads as "Connected to call and media audio," or something like that. I also notice there is absolutely no option to turn media audio on via bluetooth, but there is an option for call audio. In fact, calls work fine via Bluetooth.

I have also tried to connect with my Bluetooth headset after I was at home, and I am seeing the same issue. The issue must be with my phone. I have tried unpairing and pairing again of each device, turning Bluetooth off and back on, power cycling my phone as well as each device, and the problem still persists. My phone's battery was near full charge as well as the headset's.

Some screenshots of what I am seeing when connected to my Bluetooth headset:

Nothing on my phone that could affect Bluetooth functionality has updated or uninstalled since I was last able to connect media. What on Earth could possibly have caused my phone to lose this sort of functionality?

OK for some reason, a soft reset was not enough. Physically removing the battery has cleared whatever was causing this problem.

I had a similar problem - Nexus 6 running Android 7.0 and for a couple of weeks my phone connects to bluetooth - portable speakers work, but in the car only calls work - not Pandora or Spotify. Same problem in both cars, and different stereo in each one. I finally gave in and did a hard reset, wiping the phone, then restored from backup and logged back in to everything...real pain in the butt as it takes ages to log back into every app on your phone. It did work though.

I've only had the Nexus 6 since October 2015, not even two years and I've already had to reset it three times for different reasons. The other thing was that recently it would get really slow and unresponsive - clearing the cache worked but I had to do it almost daily, hopefully the hard reset will fix that as well. Almost bought a bloody iPhone this afternoon as I'm kind of over resetting the damn thing every time a new release rolls out.

Thank you VERY MUCH for this help! It took 2 tries for me. On the first try, I left the Bluetooth connection on prior to restarting. So when it restarted, the Bluetooth was on and the problem was still there. Prior to the second reboot, I unpaired and then shut off bluetooth completely. When it started up, I paired it as new and everything was working perfectly!
