Question Bluetooth headphones will not pair

Has the Bluetooth device previously been successfully paired with the phone? Is the device showing up in the list on the phone in which case try forgetting the device and re-pairing from scratch.

Daft thing I know but are you sure the Bluetooth device is powered up and in pairing mode?

I am running Ubuntu-Mate.

My wireless headphones were clearance and cost $7 U.S. dollars.

I am not shocked that they won't pair. I am hoping you can help me.

P.S. This site has a steep learning curve.

It's a bit surprising that you think this site has a steep learning curve, considering that you're running Ubuntu (which is not for beginners -- I have no idea how to use that!).

Is there any branding on the headphones anywhere? Do you see any fine print on them that might include a model number? Or do you possibly still have the packaging?

I'm a bit surprised to see this thread still kicking around. I popped in a couple of days ago but it keeps popping up so I figured I'd join in the fun.

No offense taken for the learning curve comment. It's easy to forget we've been here for years. If you mean navigating, it can be easy to get lost around here. It isn't as straight forward as one might think, I mean why would the dark theme be at the bottom of the page vs in the settings or even the account settings? That was the last one to get me anyway. Once you've been here a few times it gets easier, and of course you can always ask us for whatever. It's definitely easier to answer questions about the site than some of the device questions we get but that's usually because we need more information.

Speaking of, I haven't seen any reply to mustang7757's question about a device name or model if you have it? It would also be helpful if we knew how you were trying to pair the devices. Specifically what are your steps? Are you able to follow the instructions included? Are they in a foreign language or anything? We might even be able to find what we need from the site they were purchased on. That would allow us to look up the instructions and the specs of the device ourselves.

Let us know what you find.
