So I was just trying to pair my MX5500 Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with my VZW galaxy tab. The screen comes up saying it found it and to enter the code into the keyboard but then they keyboard just keeps trying to connect and never actually does. I tried resetting but that didnt help at all.

So I took to the internet to find out what was going on. As it turns out the European version of the galaxy tab has the Bluetooth HID drivers so that you can do this. The US versions have these drivers removed so we cant use our BT headseats, keyboard or mouses.

This is pretty embarrasing for Samsung as it has bluetooth but I cant use it to anywhere near its fullest extent. I love my galaxy tab but this is just unreal, I cant believe they would allow this.

Hackers need to get on this and quick because I want to use my tab to type notes in class but I cant because of this nonsense.

haha I know there is a seperate keyboard dock but thats not the point. I already own plenty of bluetooh stuff and it is INSANE for samsung US to lock them all out.

Also, why only lock out the US version, what so special about the Euro versions that they dont have this restriction. Same thing with the calling restriction, why cant we get voice and data plans on the US versions.

Dont get me wrong I love my tab and am def not taking it back. it was just misleading because all the BT stuff worked on the tabs in Europe so we all assumed it would be the same here......WRONG

This isn't a Samsung thing, this is a Verizon thing. My T-Mobile tab pairs with no problem with my bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Verizon is notorious for doing things like this.

See I woukd assume there is workaround as well but I can't find one anywhere. Has anyone on a vzw or at&t galaxy tab gotten a bluetooth mouse our keyboard to work?

Edit: I can get the device to pair but it is un-usable. Jason were u actually able to use a keyboard or mouse or did u just pair them?

Hmmm thats such a bummer for me. I talked to a vzw rep who said samsung was doing this not them but since it works on yours he must have been lying to me

The T-Mo Tab works fine with Bluetooth keyboards and Mice. In my case, the MS BT 5000 notebook mouse and Apple Mini BT keyboard.

I agree with previous posts, VZW is up to no good as usual.

VZW user.. no dice here either.. I believe they pulled the HID drivers? Is there a way to port from another carrier?

Blah this is driving me crazy I can't find a solution anywhere!!!!

Also now I'm getting the wifi issue where it gets sick saying obtaining ip address but never connects. The fix is to use a static ip which worked for half a day and then same problem. I have fios and am using their wireless router. Has anyone had the wifi problem our found a fix other than the static ip thing????

These problems keep mounting and this is becoming very annoying!

I spoke with someone today at Verizon and she said bluetooth works fine. It just won't work at the same time as wifi! So it's one or the other...

If you open the notification window and disable / re-enable Wifi, does it start working again?

I've run into an issue a few times where the Wifi just went 'dumb' after a few days of use and needed a quick on/off to get going again.

What's the story on custom ROMs for the GTab? I'd be surprised if this couldn't be addressed in that way, and how hard can it be to make one if these are already so similar to the Galaxy S series phones?

Why should Samsung be embarassed?

It's Verizon who should be embarassed.

What's so special about the Euroean version? It is directly from Samsung with no carrier feature locked. It's what Samsung intended the galaxy Tab to be in the first place.

HID working

The recent Verizon update (EC02) seems to have fixed the Bluetooth HID issue. I am now able to use a bluetooth keyboard (Logitech Mediapro) with my Galaxy Tab. Thank you Verizon!
