Bluetooth is pretty much unusable for me?

Have tried many different Bluetooth devices with less and less success.
I live in apartment complex with about 80 units and whenever I try to pair a device my phone seems to pick up dozens of nearby devices but not ONE of mine.
So I'm frustrated and baffled and about to give up on Bluetooth.

Any suggestions?

Which device do you have ?
Have you tried resetting Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth settings in the settings menu?
