Blurry fast moving pictures with the Samsung S5

I grabbed another pic earlier of a bus doing prob 50kph and that's blurry too, but can't seem to upload it now, will do so later today. I used a wall to hold phone steady too 😕
All good mate, I've found success with hitting the screen before every shot, or gone one better and set the camera to take a pic when I hit the screen.

Took a pic earlier with my phone being shook almost frantically and even that was clear ☺

Will see how we go with doggy pics later today at the dog park.

👍

Just a suggestion but do you have HDR on? I have found it can have an impact on shutter speed and overall noise in the image.

The phone seems to take slower pictures with HDR on and the result is slightly more grainy in all conditions except direct sunlight.

Ok have DL and installed Camera Zoom FX bit 1) after seeing up 'tap anywhere to focus and take shot' it doesn't work every time, but more important 2) it's even slower than stock camera.

Stock camera seems pretty fast taking pic, it's just most are blurry still.

One last chance today worth hopefully more sunlight as it was a bit dull yesterday, but if still no good I'm forced to sell it and go back to the iPhone as I can rely on that too give me crisp shots 90% of the time!

I've installed Camera ZOOM FX. I chose "stabilization" from its modes and it helps kinda. Try that. I am getting tired of blurry shots as well. I've been thinking of selling it and getting Note 4 as it has OIS......

I can recommend a phone that takes lovely clear pics but reckon the name of it would be a swear word on this forum.

I have the iPhone as well as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and my images whether they be action, still, or whatever are just as clean and sharp as the images taken with my iPhone..

I can't help but wonder if your camera has focusing issues and needs repair or replacement..

Now these look awesome, but 2 are stationary subjects. The last tho looks very much like movement and all crystal clear!

What settings are you using?

For now I'll pretend tho...

The dog and cat were both moving around slightly. I used burst mode to capture the last shot but regular for the dog and cat.

I have attached some more action shots. The phone does really well in sunlight to freeze motion but once the lights dim, it doesn't do as well.

I found having to tap the screen to take the picture would sometimes cause movement resulting in blurry pics, turn on Voice Control and try that (camera-settings-scroll all the way to the bottom, it's on the last row) and then you simply say shoot or smile and the phone will take the shot. In playing around with it I also turned off Picture Stabilization, Face Detection, Tap To Take Pics and Selective Focus. I think one of the other differences is that the iPhone was an 8mp camera and this is 16mp, with doubling the info for the image it may not be able to acquire all the information as fast as the iPhone did as it has to gather much less info. Dogs are hard to shoot as they cut and move and do not move in a predictable direction such as a vehicle driving down the road.

Much appreciated for this information. I wasn't aware that the camera menu scrolled to show more options, thank you!

A 3rd party app that I've used in the past on other Android phones with success called Fast Burst Camera by Spritefish in the Google Play Store. They have a Lite version that's free to try out. I've not yet tried it on my S5 - so I can't comment if it works better than the stock camera app.

These cars are going by at about 80 mph. Taken with my S5 with all the stock canned settings . I didn't know about the action settings .

I'll try the sound activation for taking pics over pressing the screen, but can't help but feel this is all getting too much messing about to get pics that the iPhone does with a single press of a button!

I can't open the attachment of the 80mph car as im trying with my S5. I'll try later on the PC or OH 's iPhone maybe lol

Tbh I can catch shots of cars doing 110 kph no problem but a moving dog seems as good as impossible with this phone :(

Ok seen this now, and yeah like all others lovely shots! ... :)

You know I'm out shooting the pups around 5 - 6pm and I must admit this is when it's stating to get dark and def no sunlight about. I've GOTTA get a daylight shot or 10 in the sunlight. I reckon this could be half my trouble, as my iPhone example was def taken in brighter daylight.

Bit grim here today and thunderstorms expected, but I'll upload a few next time I'm out in brighter conditions.

Thanks for your help ... :)

Ta da! ... :)

Dog was running along here. Not exactly running as fast as, but the fastest I see him moving all day as it's a bit warm her atm and the dogs are a tad lethargic, but still, def a moving dog and pic turned out ok from what I see ...

It's looking like my issue is low ambient light as with a bit of sunshine I'm happy with the results now ... :)

Check your ISO setting to see if it is on auto or a low ISO.. When shooting in low light you want auto..

I've got it set to auto.

Def a daylight thing as the sun has come out to play now and I've been playing with the extra settings / modes and having a ball! ... :)
