Hi everyone I recently upgraded to the new gs3 and I'm planning on giving my optimus s to a friend as his first smartphone and he wants to flash it to boost mobile since he doesnt have a stable enough job to afford sprint. I want to know if it is possible to do so?

If it is not possible you can always use I-Wireless, It's Sprint's prepaid service

We live in Ohio we only have straight talk, boost and vm

If I am not mistaken. I thought boost mobile was part of sprint. Just like Virgin mobile. I only go to (long story short after a criminal investigation and law suit against a sprint authorized retailer) sprint corporate stores for service and they have boost & virgin. At least I thought I saw boost there.

You can but it would require a donor phone from boost that you would clone. At this point I'm going to stop with the how to since it could be illegal in your state but definitely against forum rules.
Try Google it's not easy buggy as heck and honestly I would rather buy a boost branded phone for 100 or so on eBay for android.

Yeah, we just stick with "you can't" to stay safe here. They are an MVNO of Sprint and they use Sprint's ESN database, but you can't swap androids over yet. It's been covered here before though. Search is your friend, there are several threads on this.

So the boost mobile store can't flash a new esn to the phone?
