i've never used super manager, but i would assume you long press the file and an option menu will pop up. that's how it is in most file managers i've used.

And how exactly does this need to be done? Exact locations?

Easiest explination is to copy the file to your sdcard. Make sure that you have a file manager that has root access (Super Manager (free) or Root Explorer *(not free) - Ensure that you have read/write enabled in your file manager - look i the directory system/media and delete the file bootanimation.zip file (long press - delete)..

Go back to the sdcard - find where you put the bootanimation.zip file - copy the file (long press - copy) -> return to system/media and paste....

Back out - reboot - enjoy pretty purple honeycomb.

I'm using super manager, How do i rename the file?

In settings you need to ensure that you have (read/write) root enabled. (Root access) - I cannot recall what it is called..

Once you have that enabled you can rename files.. without that enabled you will not be able write/change anything.

Once you have that accomplished you long press and rename - navigate to the end of the file name type '.old' press ok/save -done.

Have the bootanimation.zip file on your sdcard - copy it (long press) then navigate back to the system/media location (paste)..

back out - reboot - enjoy a new boot animation.

If you are on a non voodoo kernel, boot up sound is not possible right now. Sound will not be available until the devs get their hands on the source code and give us some custom kernels.

Ah OK thanks for setting that straight for me. :)

You can make your own boot sound just by taking an wave audio file, name it as "PowerOn.wav" and put it in /etc.

was wondering if some of these boot animations wont work w/ 2.8? or if anybody knew...i tried one, but while flashing it sorta just froze...and then i tried to manually copy it over, and that didnt do anything, all i get is just the word android as it boots

You are correct. There are many of us waiting (patiently) for the source code to be released so that the developers can build kernels that will run boot animations more effectively.

I have read about this side effect. I have not encountered a repair for it yet.

I flashed the EB01 Deodexed with no problems, but I'm somewhat curious about Superclean (since I had a 2.1 Superclean ROM) with a boot animation.

I have chosen to leave the SC 2.8 boot animation in place and have no issues. I have deleted and then replaced the bootanimation.zip in the system/media folder many times with success. There have been some problems (like the one above) when trying to swap out some boot animations when using voodoo. But they are rare.

What boot animation were you trying to flash? This may not be a CWM flashable zip. If it is not flashable and you copied it to the phone what directory did you place it in? .. The system file structure is different in Froyo based ROMS than the Eclair. That almost sounds like where the problem is.

Wow - Eclair .. (that is how long this thread has gone without being updated)

I wasn't the biggest fan of the SC boot animation on the 2.1 ROM I had.. is it the same with the Android scribble thing? I suppose it's better than the stock boot animation though that you get with EB01.

Similar (very similar) but not the same.
