Boot Animations Lists and Links with Instructions - Updated 02/16/11**

I simply cannot get boot animations to work. I am running Adrynalyne's SupahClean ROM and Test 6 Kernel. I've tried replacing files, ROM manager and CWM! At one point after installing SupahClean (and before I knew any better) I installed a boot animation changer form the app market, I have a feeling this may have screwed something up. Anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?

After attempting to flash Aperture Science boot/shutdown animations through ROM Manager SonofSkywalker I can hear the Aperture science audio during boot but I still get Adryns looped Samsung boot animation. Shutdown changed appropriately. Help?

i have done so much crap to my phone that i have come across most problems. :D i never installed that app, but had the same problem. the only way i could it to work, was after flashing back to stock and starting over.

Hah! Well I am just too lazy to do that. I guess I 'll just have to deal with not changing them for right now... The only time I see them is when I flash a new kernel :) Thanks for response though!

So I tried to flash a new shutdown animation today, and it actually froze my CWM, 35 minutes with no results. Anyone who wants to take a swing at this would be much appreciated. Upon posting this I've realized I have no idea what rom i'm running beyond it's mostly stock. I have the NeonGT theme installed. Maybe I'll flash up a supah clean rom. I like most of the stock samsung stuff, with a theme so I guess i'll have a look around. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that I'm not deodexed.

One more mention, I flashed a theme for DJ05 over a DL09 kernel, then flashed the theme fix, but it gave me a TWlauncher force close loop. I was able to fix it just by flashing back over. Any more info would be stellar.

Which shutdown animation? I am wondering if some that were designed to be flashed are putting it in the wrong system directory... some are tested on other phones. I can pull it from the list if it is doing this.
I will be happy to check to see if the zip was designed for CWM flashing.. or whether it needed to be copied/pushed to the phone.

It was the green flash scribble droid.

It appears that zip file is designed to be copied/moved pushed to the System/Media/Video/Shutdown folder. You can use this link for a recovery installed shutdown animation..

By trying to use the recovery zip installer it looked for the installation process in the code and it was not there.... thus became hung up..

Beware that all downloads on that page are to be copied/moved or pushed to the correct folder - System/Media/Video/Shutdown

These (zip) files contain a series of image files 'png' and they are numbered sequentially what gets played fist -> last.. you can unzip the Shutdown file(usually another folder labeled 'Shutdown) and copy all the contents or that folder directly to that folder in the System/Media/Video/Shutdown on the phone. Replacing the old folder with the new folder and contents.. That should correct your problems..

I am finding that many (a majority) of the boot animation and shut down animations are of this kind... very few are installable via recovery.

Sorry I jumped the gun (he he)... on gunnermike53.

Like I said, read back. Root explorer will allow you to copy and paste the contents to the proper location.

encoutered the same problem while installing the boot animation through CWM and it froze on installing update. the only way i manage to get it going is through root explorer, renaming the old file and copying the new boot animation to system/media.

Did a test on the shutdown animation ...

1. downloaded any bootup animation.
2. extracted the .png files to a folder.
3. renamed the .png files to shutdown_1.png, shutdown_2.png ... and so on depending how many .png files are in the folder.
4. renamed the new folder shutdown.
5. saved the new "shutdown" folder to the sd card.
6. went to system/media/video and renamed the shutdown folder to shutdownold.
7. copy and paste the new shutdown folder to system/media/video

tada my bootup animation is now my shutdown animation ... anybody knows where the shutdown sound is located?

only thing i noticed is it will only play once compared to the bootup where it loops

To replace the Shutdown sound you have to do the following:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to .ogg file (I used Winamp+.ogg converter)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
6) rename "shutdown.ogg" to "shutdown.ogg.old"
7) navigate to the DL'ed .ogg file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/media/audio/ui
10) rename it "shutdown.ogg"

Startup sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to a .wav file (using Winamp+.wav converter/iTunes)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/etc
6) rename "PowerOn.wav" to "PowerOn.wav.old"
7) navigate to where you placed the DL'ed .wav file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/etc
10) rename it "PowerOn.wav"

Shutdown sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to .ogg file (I used Winamp+.ogg converter)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
6) rename "shutdown.ogg" to "shutdown.ogg.old"
7) navigate to the DL'ed .ogg file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/media/audio/ui
10) rename it "shutdown.ogg"

I think we hit the same page at the same time...
Nice!

yeah, I knew I could find it on my phone but I also knew where to find the list we posted so I just jumped over to it and copied it.

Dropped some abbreviated installation instructions on the first post to help those who are having issues installing shutdown and boot animations..

Also included some very brief directions for boot and shutdown animation sound installs.

Let me know if there are issues or the instructions do not make sense.
