[bootanime] ~NOW FLASHABLE! ~ 3rd bootanime for ICS! :-)

Re: [bootanime] FIXED! 3rd bootanimation for ice cream sandwich!!

good job on the Animations the are awesome! thanks drew!

A nice tool I found helpful when playing with making my own boot animations (I made up a cm9 boot animation from the new official version floating around, but didn't share as there are a ton out there).

If you try it, just know the previewed is a separate program, so you will want that too. I also found a really good/free image resizer, converter that does batch processes if you are interested.

Edit: also, on file types, jpgs are MUCH smaller then pngs.

Edit 2:http://db.tt/Ds9gMG5Z here is a Dropbox download link for the animation I did up if interested.

Patrick, would you please tell me how did you pack the re-sized images into a boot animation?
Yours looks pretty good btw. Looking forward to more bootanimations for ICS :D

TO CREATE A BOOT ANIMATION:

Create a folder called whatever you like (I mean anything :-P )

Inside THAT folder, make two folders, one named "part0" and one "part1". Place your 320*480 (if it is for a Optimus S..) .png or .jpg files in the two folders... Put the files you want to loop in one (or more than one if you like) and the ones you want to loop only once in the other. Create a .txt file called "desc.txt".

On the FIRST Line of the desc.txt file should be

FIRST LINE - - 320 480 FPS (REPLACE "FPS" with HOW FAST YOU WANT THE ANIMATION TO GO)...

Then, the NEXT line should be the part0 folder... SECOND LINE - p X Y part0 (REPLACE X WITH HOW MANY TIMES YOU WANT THE FOLDER TO LOOP) (REPLACE Y WITH HOW LONG [IN SECONDS] SHOULD IT BE BETWEEN LOOPS ("0" is recommended)...

Then, the THIRD line should be the part1 folder.. THIRD LINE - p X Y part1 (DO THE SAME FOR X AND Y AS ON THE SECOND LINE...)

THEN!! TAKE THE FOLDERS FROM THAT ONE FOLDER (the part0, part1, and desc.txt files and folders) to a zip file (Windows Explorer works great)....

Then.. place on SD.. move to /system/media as "bootanimation.zip"

HOPE IT HELPED!

Also, if you have any ideas for Beta4, I will begin working on it later this week.. Shoot me some ideas... Keep it real simple (not like a droid flipping!) :-P

Thanks.

Can we get a preview? What? What? :)

I said... What? What?... Dammit, Butters!

Hey AC mods, 19kB is pretty darn useless for gif previews. How about a bump on the limit?

Thanks.

How about you have the sandwich slide in from the bottom, unwrap then get eaten. When it is gone have a new one slide up and begin the process again.

I love that idea. I will talk to a couple of people, ask jstntp if he can help me create the .png's and I will def shoot for that idea!

Thanks!

Oh.. and... I (laugh and call me names... :-P ) don't know how to create a gif of the png's...

Awesome, thanks so much Patrick. you explained it in detail. Also what tool did u you use to resize images?
I had 480*480 Images which I wanted to resize to 320*480. I used Nautilus (Ubuntu) to batch resize them.
It resized everything into 320 320 and increased the size of the folder from 2mb to 3mb :-\
Also, what did you use to sign the zip? Thanks again for explainig it in detail man :D and yeah, I will let you know if I have any good ideas.

It would, of course, keep the aspect ratio. There is probably a way to do this manually with CLI or maybe there is a GUI tool out there, but I can tell that the GIMP is your new best pet.

Also, I took too much time screwing around with it trying to meet a silly upload parameter, but I posted a preview on the last page if anyone is interested in checking out what this looks like without having to use a proprietary viewer.

It is okay for it to jump in size.. It really doesn't matter how big the bootanime'.zip is as long as you can keep it reasonable (you wouldn't want a 50MB boot anime')... I just used PhotoShop CS5.. ran 320*480 images (PNG's) and I hand created them.. using photos from G'Images...

For bootanimations, you DO NOT need to sign the zip because it doesn't run through recovery.. But if you MAKE a flashable zip for the bootanimation like I did in V3, I Googled how to make a flashable zip and you MUST use NotePad++ (Ubuntu and Windows version) to create the updater-script file... make sure it is UNIX format and is encoded in ANSI format... It is easy to do.... Those options are normally already chosen in NP++... I signed the flashable zip with a program jstntp sent me in PM called "DevZipSigner".. Will have to ask him if it is okay to send to anyone (I think HE created it.. I don't remember..) Anyways, if you want to learn how to make a flashable zip, ask me. I'll be glad to teach you... But unless you are making a FLASHABLE bootanime', no signing is required.

Thanks for asking.

That's what I thought too. All of the others were either had bad d.load links or too obsolete to use...

Sent from my LG-LS670 running CyanogenMod 7 and Gingerbread

Exactly thats why i tried one then stopped. but when i checked that out it worked great. So major kudos.:D:D:D:D:D:D

Thanks so much Patrick. Yeah I probably don't want to sign bootanimation but I do need a tool to sign zip's.
Like the Lewa port, I never signed it until now :-\ But yeah i will definitely get in touch with you if I need to know anything again :)

Epidenimus: Thanks for the ideas bro, i'm trying to find a Photoshop kind of thing which is free or opensource.
Don't have the kind of money to buy THAT. You do seem to have a lot of knowledge about image editing and stuff apart from Linux :D I might need you help IF i get into theming, talking of which I'll need to talk to JSTNP now. Thanks again :)

JSTNP: Sir, you developed a lotta themes for our ROMs. Since you switched to a diff phone, I'm not sure if you have plans for theming for our ROMs. Not that I want to be a themer, but I do want to gain some knowledge about theming. So that, IF I build/port a ROM in future, (not CM9 for sure since we have 2 Boss like devs doing that already) I really like to theme it atleast, sort of adding my own flavor. I could send you a PM but thought since we are talking about customizing ROM looks, it might help anyone interested. :)
