Bootloop "out of warranty"

Hello, So my LG G4 H818P went into bootloop a couple of days after being 1 year old, so it's out of warranty.
I originally bought it from Dubai, So when I sent it back they asked to charge around 220$ to take it in for repair.(Although they haven't even diagnosed it or done a check up).
I can't even guarantee that the issue won't recur even after I pay that amount of money.
So I was just wondering if anyone here had a similar experience (Bootloop after warranty is expired), what's LG's policy towards those devices?
The device has been bricked for 4 months now I don't know what to do with it, to be honest I'm never buying LG again if I can't get this sorted out.
Thanks.

I don't know LG's official policy, but the phone most likely requires a ROM reflash.

Take my advice and do not repair. Cut your loses and buy a different phone. You'll repair and a few months later same issue. They are not a reliable handset.

My phone was over a year old when it developed bootloop. It was not a problem whatsoever to get a replacement free of charge. At the time (june) lg was stepping up.

If it's repaired correctly (a new motherboard without the solder issue), this problem should not recur.

Warranty is 2 years with LG. Contact them direct for the country you purchased from. I have just done the same and was pleased with their service.

Re: Bootloop "out of warranty"

How old was your G4 when it bootlooped?
First G4 bootlooped at 9 months old. Sent it off for repair and they replaced the motherboard, and it lasted 8 months until one day it just froze on me, switched off and it wouldn't turn back on, or even charge. After that I was sent a replacement and the customer service guy told me that he has had to replace quite a few G4s for customers. So far so good, but I will be looking to replace for a Google Pixel before the warranty runs out on my current G4 as if it bootloops outside of warranty I won't be repairing, but instead throwing it in the bin.

My G4 is on the way back to LG. It is 16 months old. Will see if they will ask for money for repair.
