bored and wanna flash a rom but scared

I am just missing something. I have rooted and loaded roms on blackberries before. I have purchased root explorer, rom manager premium, titanium backup and read everything I can get my hands on. Yet when I follow the instructions the best I can get is a happy droid for one second and then the dead droid with a red exclamation through the heart. I am feeling doomed to wait for the update.

They are like I said root unlock flash... repeat!:D

Don't get too worried if I was able to unlock and root my phone ANYONE can. Wugs toolkits, XDA developers Nexus toolkit, Google search and most of all Android Central forums made it all possible.

PS This is my first post and I I look forward to talking to most of you. :D

When you go into recovery mode you have to use the up and down volume buttons to select you're option then the power button to actually select it. Also if on Cwm you happen too hold the up/down buttons in( I made this mistake )it malfunctions and you should then touch then again to cancel this... the select power button won't work....

I have a mac so I am unsure if wug's tool kit will work. I have unlocked and rooted already. Not sure how to confirm root but other apps that require root don't protest. Clockwork recovery worked once on the backup, after that I've been killing the droid.

Also when I try to reboot into recovery I get the red exclamation. I have followed cyber warrior addendum to rename the system file, can't remember the name, to .bak but that hasn't helped.

I guess I did hijack this thread, my apologies to all. I have the same feelings as the OP and when I saw title I got carried away.

Flashing is not that complicated. Sure, there's a lot of craziness that goes on, but the concepts are brutally simple. Want to flash? You have to clear out your old stuff first, so you must wipe your phone. Then you install the new stuff. Then you reboot the phone. Any problems with it? Clear out and repeat!

As long as you take your time, always wipe, and always have an escape mechanism (i.e. you have created a backup and can restore from that backup), you'll be fine. Trust me.

@Cigar_junkie sounds like either..
1. As makesome suggested you just locked your CWR, you unlock it by hitting power and scrolling through a couple times.... or more likely....
2. You don't actually have CWR flashed and what you are looking at is the stock recovery. Use the toolkit to flash the touch CWR image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47300967/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-toro.img
Of if you know how to use fastboot just boot into the bootloader, connect, put that file in your fastboot folder and open a command window IN that folder, then just type:
fastboot flash recovery nameoffile.img

where you change nameoffile to the actual name (in this case recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-toro.img)

Well I reread CW's guide and got back on track. I made the nandroid backup. I then bought mybackup pro and tried to backup data and apps. Chrome and one other app kept causing mybackup pro to chuck a wobbly. When I was finally ready to flash I ran out of time.

Nice, I've made this mistake a couple of times, didn't realize this was the cause
