Both my cars not able to activate Hey Google or Bixby

My old Note 7 worked fine, and iPhone 7 plus for Siri. But I can't get either of my cars to activate the voice command over bluetooth the voice function of my phone. I am not sure what I am missing. The phone is set to unlock when connected to the car. It has all the settings in bluetooth turned on for that pair session.

Any ideas?

It may be set maybe a little too far from you, maybe adjust the phone so it's secured closer to you if it's in a holder? Also there are sensitivity settings you can change that may help.

Also meant to add that you may want to retrain the voice model.

It's not supposed to use the phone mic or speaker. It supposed to work with the stereo to activate the voice command on the phone and use the car mic. I'm not actually saying it, just hitting the button to activate it.

One car says not supported when I activate it, the other car nothing.

Dumb question, but you already set them to connect via Bluetooth with the car and selected your phone as a favorite right?

Not exactly sure what you mean by a favorite? But they are the only device that hooks into both cars. And they do connect as I can do other things with them fine. Just can't activate the voice activation.

I figured it was a setting on the phone. :/

What setting fixed it? I can't get my S8+ to respond to button or voice commands via car stereo using either Bixby or Google Assistant, but the same stereo worked fine with Google Assistant on my old S6 Edge.
