Bought sprint phone

I bought a samsung Galaxy s6 edge+ from a guy for 200.00. Excellent condition he told me it would work on my t mobile.o put my reg. T mobile sim in from my current tmobile s6. T mobile sending new one now. Tmobile says current sim should work on new phone(they and I dint know new phone is Sprint) new phone said wrong sim etc. Device says insert uicc and ppwer on. Can i fix this or did i just get screwed. Kid's fwcebook is 2yrs old with computers,phones all kinds for ssle. He knows what hes doing. Can i make this work?

What's the exact message the Sprint phone says about wrong SIM? I'm not an expert at this, no experience moving a Sprint phone to T-mobile but it sounds like it might be locked. I know someone else on these forums should know.
