I broke my nexus 7 16gb at work 4 days after receiving it. It was in the case, I was using turntable to listen to music with headphones. Someone called my name, I turned with the headphones on and pulled the nexus off my desk. Shattered the screen right above the USB port. Looks like there is a week spot in the case there. It only fell about 3 feet, it shouldn't of cracked the screen.

I got the nexus on July 19th, broke it on July 23rd, sent it to Asus on July 24th. I finally got the amount it will be to fix the device yesterday August 9th after multiple calls to their support line.

Parts: $85.00
Labor: $65.00
Shipping: $10.00

Final cost.. $160.00. Ouch. Looks like a 3-5 day turnaround which will more then likely mean I won't get it back for 2 more weeks.

Same thread Here. (Search is your friend, really).

I'd get a new one before spending that much for the repair. You can at least get 50 bucks out of it for parts, then just another $200.00 to get a 16GB new one. You would spend $160.00 for the repair anyway, so spend 40 bucks more and get something new.

You might want to call the credit card company that you used to buy the product. Some credit cards provide a consumer protection warranty that is better than manufacturers, even if it is your fault.

Don't you also get another $25 Google Play credit with a new device? That would tip me in the direction of replace over repair.

No. The credit is attached to your account, not the tablet.

How can you tell if both are broken?

Mine's has a few small cracks and won't let me unlock the screen.
But screen still rotates and wakes itself up, too.

the screen will show physical damage, like a crack - but if the screen is somewhat unresponsive to touch, then the digitalizer is broken too
Don't quote me on that though, this is just what a friend told me (hes good with stuff like this) when I told him about my tablet being broken.

So I cracked my nexus 7 16gb and I know how to change the screen myself but I am having a hard time finding a place to purchase a new digitizer...if any one can help, possibly direcet me?
