Technically yes. I am just going off what the other forums are calling this action. By what I am understanding is that up until like May 30th or so they were useless, because you had nothing but the phone. You couldn't write to a SD card, and you had no real way to charge the phone. Not sure if the other phones that this started with could be charged while powered off or not, luckly the EVO can. So is it a true brick no, but that is what it was being called. Not my terminology. On top of that I can't change the main title of the post. Just my headers, or atleast I don't know how.

haha, yeah i know what you mean.. it seems the term has changed drastically! ive been on forums where someone will say he think he bricked his phone cause his wifi isnt working!! how times have changed, lol

Hello Keith. Meant to ask you intially. I know you will pull me out of the well!!!
I'm clueless and new to smartphones. For my entry level I chose the EVO 4g and tried rooting.
I think I was successful following rooting using this method.
[TUTORIAL] IDIOT-PROOF Root Guide! No ADB, no fuss! - xda-developers
Afterwards when I rebooted as you all came across I have no SD card and no USB. Right now my phone is charging with the power off since I spent all night and didn’t go to work today to get back functionality. At step 25 is where I was running into problems trying to install omj's rom. Also rom manager didn't work for me. I was able to use titanium backup to get all my apps but wasn't able to recover since I have no SD card or USB functionality.
When I try your method for getting the sd card to come back I get the same QUALCOMM drivers issue. I downloaded the drivers but am getting an error message. I am running windows xp 32 bit. I got the right drivers and device manager is showing the htc connected.
So when I get to fastboot
When I try to initate the command fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 i get

C:\>fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Can you do your miracles? Obvoiusly I'm missing something.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Was able to fix ehat i did wrong from a previos post and got fast boot to work I user Koush's update.zip and have both sd card and charger back working. I downloaded ROM manager and I still can't update the ROM. I wanted to use OMJ's rom (OMJ_EVO_2.1_Eclair_v1.3.zip) to get the latest tethering to work (wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre1.apk) but rom manager will not load and doesn't find update.zip.
Any ideas?

Rlmandroid, glad you got your EVO's sd card and usd back online. So when you install ROM Manager do you get an error message? Are you able to go into Recovery? Do you boot to the bootloader and then goto recovery, and have the update.zip on your sdcard's root? Give me some info on what is going on I can try to help. Keith is going to need more info also if you are asking him. Thanks and lets see what we can do.

I'm not sure if I'm having the same Sd Card problems as some of the other people. But the problem I'm having is that my Evo, thinks that it's connected to a PC (Disk Drive Mode) when in fact, it's not. I opened Astro File Manager and it saw my SD Card and everything. some of my files were missing. Particularly the files in my download folder. I connected the Evo to my computer and without prompting, like it normally does when you connect it to a computer. The drive displayed on my computer screen, then opened up. Thus displaying everything on my SD Card.

Prior to this, whenever I connected my evo to my PC, It'll say "charging" and it'll list the other 3 options disk drive, sync, internet connection.

Nevertheless, I selected "charging" and waited for SD Card to re-mount. I disconnected the Evo from the PC and now I can see everything again on my Sd Card via Astro File manager.

Do anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this? Is this the same problem that others are having? I re-installed Titanium Backup w/ Busy Box because I read about that in some of the earlier posts.

But should I do the fix that that the OP posted at the beginning of this thread?

Update:

I did all the steps and fr strange reason as soon as I connect my Evo to the computer, my SD card opens up. Is it suppose to do this? I thought I had to select the "disk drive"option. or can it be the Rom I'm using that has it doing this automatically?

@plmiller0905 goto: menu>settings>connect to PC> make sure ask me is checked. I am betting that the Default connection type is set to Disk Drive, and you don't have a check. Try that and let us know. Sorry to just get back on here, have been doing the full root. I have also been working like crazy this week. I hope this helps.

No problem and thanks for helping me out with this. I tried what you suggested and it still doing the same thing.

I am online now looking trying to find some more info about this.

I am using the DamageControl rom and I think that's the problem. I reverted back to my first nandroid backup (stock) before I flashed any roms and the issue was not there. I am going to flash to my other backup I had with BuglessBeast and see if the issue was with that rom also. I'm guessing maybe the DamageControl Rom has this feature to automatically open the SD card when it's connected to a computer.

That is what it is starting to really sound like.

Yup...I think the DamageControl Rom is the issue. I flashed back to stock and the issue was gone, I flashed back to Bugless and the issue was gone. I know when I installed Damage, I didn't do a "Wipe" at least I don't remember if I did. So I am going to re-flash Damage and see if the issue is still there.

I know that you can issues when you install a rom and don't Wipe before hand.

i just ran in to the same prob. last night where i cant mount the sd card nor connect to the USB and i tryed the fast boot and use the CMD but CMD doesn't recognize fastboot, how did you get that to work?

Sorry just got back home. You have to be in the SDK\Tools directory. basically just like you would be doing ADB stuff. If not there then it won't work unless you put that area into your path statement. So make sure you cd to the correct location of your SDK\tools folder. Hope this helps.

I've been trying to capture someones attention on the XDA forums but it hasn't been sucessful.

I have had this same problem, HOWEVER, I am not able to write ANYTHING to the MISC partition. Apparently something I did caused more of an issue than that...

Has anyone had problems recovering the MISC partition?

what are your errors? maybe if your lucky it isn't that. what's going on with your phone? your shell that sort of things. Post some logs screen copies that sort of thing and i'll see what I can do to help. I should be home the rest of the evening.
