Browser problem

Cory - I've been away for the weekend and came back this evening - IE9 here as well - and every Forum page takes forever (30 - 60 sec) to load. I think it's the new footer - it's not rendering correctly there is a large gap between Signup - How to and Tags row and the Facebook/Twitter stuff.

I blame Facebook personally

Hey guys - I was able to replicate what you were seeing earlier and disabled the footer until it's resolved. Sorry it was causing your browser problems earlier, but thanks for pointing it out.

Stumbled on this thread by accident and thankfully I did. Reset IE twice to no avail. Good to know it wasn't on my end. Been driving me crazy all weekend lol.

Cory question. Is there a setting that allows ONLY the registered users to see how many people are online? That may improve load times. Just a thought and you can keep the footer.

The "fix" (removing the footers - thanks Cory!) is still working hunky-dory for me with IE9. Have you tried all the clearing cache stuff? Ctrl-F5 should load the page from scratch.

Edit: Sorry, I meant the Forums were still fine. I see what you mean about the home page www.androidcentral.com. I've seen this before. I've always assumed it was temporary due to possible external content servers. Anyway... glad the forums are okay

8/9/11, 11am MDT - Footers are back, problem is back.

Edit: 8/9/11, 1:50pm MDT (next time I looked) - Footers are gone, problem is gone. I know you are on this... just FYI.

Frank, looks like you're following the other thread now. You guys are correct that it is related to the footer. I know they are continuing to work on it, so you might see it pop back now and then. On the forums side I've disabled it entirely so if you continue to have issues with the footer off, please let me know. I don't recall getting an email from you, but I get so many a day, it may have slipped past me.

IE8 Crashing after re-insertion of new footers

Just wanted to let you know that after the new Footers were put back on the site, IE 8 now crashes and recovers the tab on every click in the Forums. The main Bog is OK, It's just the Forums where this is happening.

Cleared Cache and Temp files. Did all the SOP Troubleshooting. Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

Again... I blame Face book... but I blame Facebook for everything.

As of right now (4:17pm MDT) the footers are working fine with IE8 and IE9.

I was able to check with a seldom used machine with IE8 before you removed the footers for troubleshooting, and sure enough, IE8 was crashing for me too (not pretty). But now IE8 is fine for me. So is IE9.

When it was happening to me on IE8 it was pretty much every click in the Forums. Tab has been recovered or IE8 has crashed, restart or close.

I'll test again when I get to the office in the morning. I have IE9 on this machine, and it's been fine today. A little dark, but I blame the fact that I have to wear my Sunglasses since I broke my regular glasses today. Nothing an Admin can do about that!
