Bugs with 4.2

Since upgrading to 4.2 I have noticed the following bugs that did not exist before. Anybody else have them and better yet a workaround?

1) Black screen requiring power button hard restart to turn back on every day or two
2) Launcher crashing once or twice a day
3) Feeling like not bragging about 4.2 every time it crashes

Have you tried a cache partition wipe? This helped with my RAZR Maxx after the ICS update. I don't have the procedure in front of me, but could probably describe it tomorrow.

If it isn't a huge hassle, a factory reset usually helps as well.

I've had #1, just lagging on purpose for a factory reset.
#2 only happens if I try to place the ASUS Task Manager Widget on top of the Weather Widget.
#3 I still do.

My 300 no longer streams video without constant stuttering and stopping. My DNA works great streaming the same videos so I know it's just the tablet since the update. Any ideas or is a factory reset my only option?

Factory reset is a great way to go when you encounter crazy bugs.

Well, I did a factory reset, but it hasn't helped the problem. It has made Dolphin Browser unusable though, so I guess there's that. I'm going to email Asus and see what they have to say.

Do you install any 3rd party apps?

I feel the battery life on my TF300 is not as good as it used to be before the 4.2 update. Anyone else feel the same?

I feel the same way, though I have not run into any of the bugs reported. I stream fine w/ netflix. What programs or website are you guys streaming from?

I am also suffering from video problems, but ones connected with the hdmi.

I get no sounds through the TV
with the hdmi cable plugged in I cannot load any videos. It just hangs waiting. I have to unplug, get the video going, then plug in the hdmi.
I do not find browsing any faster. Dolphin browser hung up and I had to close it down and restart. I think it is still slower then on 4.1.
Stock browser is slower.
I am reluctant to do a factory restart as it takes ages to set everything up.

I haven't experienced any bugs yet....4.2 has been great, although I have very minimal apps on my 300. The battery seems great, although it seems like strains much quicker when docked into the keyboard

It often seems that battery life takes a hit immediately after a system update, but I think it's usually an illusion, because most people will be using the device more after the update to test things out. Starting and stopping apps uses up battery (which is why task killers are generally not recommended).

I haven't tried it yet but I will tonight and let you know how it goes.

I get no sound either, but I am able to load videos with the hdmi plugged in. I regret accepting the update.

Also, today when I got home, my battery had dropped from 89% to 15% while in sleep mode.

I'm getting sound via HDMI. For those who aren't getting sound, is there anything coming from the tablet, or via the headphone jack? Also, check your TV to make sure there isn't some sort of HDMI audio bypass setting--a lot of TVs have this option because people have them connected to home theaters, and turning on the HDMI audio bypass prevents the audio from being duplicated on the TV and the home theater system.

Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately I can't find a setting like that on my Vizio. Plus, it always worked before and I haven't changed anything on the TV. Is there maybe a setting on the tablet that I'm not aware of that might be affecting the sound output? Thanks again.

I can't find any settings on the tablet. You could consider a factory reset, if it isn't a big hassle. I wish there were a way to clear the cache partition, like you can with many other phones and tablets, but as far as I can tell from Googling the topic, there is no way to do so with stock Android on Transformers.

As for the battery drain--do you have Google Currents installed? If so, change its refresh to manual, or uninstall it completely.
