Build.prop help

Ok so earlier today I edited my build.prop file so the android version says 5.1.1 instead of 5.0.1. Turns out when I saved it my root went away with it. So basically my phone is tricked by thinking I am running 5.1.1. I did save a backup of the stock build.prop file but my problem is I can't restore it without root. Is there any way I can move my backup back to /system/?

Well, if I were you, I'm gonna make myself a flashable package thats gonna replace it. Flash it to replace and set permissions and done, reboot. Just search in Google for how to make it.
