Burst Shot and Check Mark?

I love the burst shot and the ability to pick out the ones I want to keep. What I don't like is the check mark that is left on the pictures I kept. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to pick and chose the pics without getting the check marks on the picture? Thanks.
