Sorry if this is a dumb question but I was at target and saw the 2015 moto e for $69 on Verizon prepaid. I have a contract with Verizon currently and have the droid turbo and was wondering if I could purchase the moto e and insert my Sim card and have it work without having to do anything else?

No, you'd have to have Verizon do an equipment swap, and they won't do that with a prepaid phone on a regular account.

You can do that on GSM phones (AT&T and TMobile) but not with CDMA phones (Sprint and Verizon).

Yes, and no. Rukbat is correct, to a point. LTE is an extended of GSM technology, so regardless if your carrier is GSM or CDMA if you have LTE then you can switch your phone by swapping out your Sim card.

BTW, cool user name Rukbat. I read a lot of Anne McCaffrey too. :)

Yes you can. I use Moto E as a cheap back up and just swap Sims. It only works with a Sim that has been activated.
