Buy Moto X now or wait for Nexus 6?

Based on user feedback here and at the XDA forum, the battery life seems acceptable.

Now the one thing holding me back is the camera. I'm waiting to see if Motorola will push any sort of update (like they did to the OG Moto X) to improve the camera. Until this happens, I can't commit.

I too was on the fence trying to decide between the Moto X, Nexus 6 and Droid Turbo. I ruled out the Droid Turbo because of the extra stuff that will be put on it and the color variants did not seem to agree with me. Coming from the Note 3, I wanted something smaller and something tells me that Nexus will have some bloat on the Nexus 6 and possibly have some issues to resolve so, I do not want to be an early adopter.

I ordered the Moto X on Saturday through Motomaker. The expected ship date is 10/27. Supposedly the phone is in stock or that is what the Motorola people told me so, I do not understand why the ship date is delayed until 10/27. I spoke to Verizon today after getting a little cold feet and they told me that the phone had shipped. They could not tell me the tracking number and had me call Motorola. Motorola insists that it has not shipped yet and Verizon is wrong.

So far, the Motorola people have been interesting to deal with to say the least. At least on the online chat, I am not sure they know what is going on. It kind of raises red flags when I hear stories about people getting their orders delayed and in some cases, the phone ships out when the Motorola site and/or chat rep states that it has not.

Also, the Moto X 2014 accessories seems to be rather sparse on Ebay and Amazon. Cases are limited along with screen protectors and charging docks. The micro charger unit is sold out and on back order. Not sure about the turbo charger. I found all this out on Sunday after, I ordered the phone because I wanted to start researching cases.

I understand that the product is still relatively new. I just hope that the phone does not become outdated next month because of the Nexus 6 and Droid Turbo to the point where sales are effected and then the accessory suppliers do not want to produce anything for the phone.

Get the Nexus 6. I've had the Moto X for a couple of weeks now and I have to say that I'm unimpressed. The specs of the Nexus 6 are much more impressive. Let's put it this way. The battery and the radios of the new X are mediocre at best and that's what Motorola has always been know for. They dropped the ball on this one.

For me, battery life is great. I get 18-20 hours. Medium to heavy user here. Also, with a steady hand and using the camera to its fullest potential you get some pretty great shots. For me, the Nexus 6 is just a bigger phone with less features. Same build quality. And from what I have heard, the battery isn't all that impressive on the 6. I really think the pure edition of the new X is the right "Nexus"... For me.
