Buyers Remorse. Anyone starting to get it?

Dammit; I've ordered the 2 XL 128 twice and cancelled the order twice. Now, I'm sitting here itching to order a third time. I just can't pull the trigger. It's more money than I paid for my first car. I keep telling myself that it's not that much an upgrade from my xl but I see pics and hear stories that prove my xl isn't nearly the phone the 2 xl is.

If I order a third time, I'm afraid that Google will send the guys in white and take me to the loony bin. I had less problems getting a divorce. No not really, but the pain is similar.

What do I do?

Now to complicate matters, From my CL listing, I just got a request to meet and trade my xl for his one month old iPhone 7+ 128. Why can't people leave me alone and let me just melt into oblivion.

How do you peeps feel about this trade?

The way I see it, Google is going to give you 410 for your phone. How much will you get it for if you upgrade next year instead? Plus you lose a year of not using the best phone on the market. Opportunity cost.

Haha can't help you on the iPhone issue. Not a fan of ios. My wife uses iPhone and she constantly is reminded that icloud space is full.

OK sorry, this is supposed to be a pixel 2 bashing thread, since it's about our remorse on buying it. Turning it to iPhone bashing. Haha.

Not intended to bash either the 2 xl or iPhone. Need a bash up side my head to clear my thought process. Thanks for the reply.

Update: OK, just ordered for the third time. Couldn't believe I was considering trading for an iPhone but butted my head against the wall and placed the order.

After cancelling my order once and almost reordering it again....I am going to wait it out for now,I honestly think this is not worth it’s price tag.I am not a fan of IOS either but I seriously doubt I can hold on to my nexus 6 one more year.I won’t consider any other android phone apart from pixel.

I got my phone (XL 128gb Black) three days ago and have used it pretty extensively. I have an XL 128gb Silver that is going to be traded in for $410 to offset the cost and pay it off. I was really excited for it and visited Verizon twice since I submitted my pre-order. Here are my thoughts:

The phone is better in the hand than the original XL. It's lighter and the edges feel better.

The Active Edge is pretty slick. I don't use Google Assistant but re-mapped the squeeze to turn the screen on and off. HUGE UPGRADE for me. Makes Active edge really great to use. I want this feature on all my phones now, lol.

The speakers are really great. I've never had front-facing speakers so it feels like a really great upgrade. They lack bass but most phone speakers do. I think the bass on the iPhone 8 speaker is better, comparing with my wife's, but these get just as loud. I would consider this a novelty and not a must-have feature.

The camera is really great, a marginal upgrade from my original XL. I am not a really big camera guy, but I can tell it's nice.

The battery life is a tad better than the original XL, and not as great of a jump as I expected considering the capacity increased and the efficiency of the newer SOC. But still an improvement.

The charging speed is noticeably better! Thankfully, too, since the original XL charged slow compared to my old S7e.

The screen is the biggest problem. It also happens to be the most important feature for me. Let me say this: the colour accuracy is really good, and as close to my original XL (with sRGB on) as you can get. I like accurate colours and I am glad Google chose to calibrate it this way. But the color shift to blue at even the slightest angle and the dismal low-light performance is enough to make it a deal-breaker. I don't want to be tasked with the chore if keeping the phone perfectly oriented towards my face. And I like using my phone at night when the lights are off, but this screen kills most detail at low light. It's like the contrast is set too high by default. I don't want to have to turn on a light whenever I want to use my phone.

Because of this last detail, I'll be returning the phone to Google for a refund. I'll also probably continue to turn in my original XL to pay it off and see what One plus does with the alleged 5T.

There are apps to make the screen darker than the minimum allowed in the system. It won't help with the blue tint though

I don't want the screen to be darker. Then I wouldn't be able to see anything. It gets dark enough, but the problem is once you're below a certain brightness, all detail in pictures is lost. You have to up the brightness to see these details again, and then the whites are just way too bright and you need some ambient light in the room. It's really not great in low-light situations. ☹️

Normal pixel) I'm still torn, in use the phone is terrific and fly's in a way I have only seen from the 8gb OP5 I tried but, and it is becoming a big but for me now it just does not feel like a £729 phone.

It feels now that the price for the latest version of android and fast updates is massively over-priced hardware and much as I am loving O and I want to like this device the costs are outweighing the benefits for me. I might have felt better if I'd paid 100 less for the 64gb version but I needed the storage.

Have asked carphone warehouse if I can return it and if they allow then I think I will.

I went to see a Pixel 2Xl in store today. It is still preorder in the UK. I found the phone beautiful in black and the screen on the display unit was nice. I loved the phone. So i went home and called the Carphone warehouse and preordered my pixel 2 XL with free google home mini for delivery 15th November.

I think the responses you get will all be for the Pixel 2 XL as this is an android forum. OS aside, I personally wouldn't want a phone without a fingerprint reader. So Pixel is definitely better just from that standpoint in my opinion. I also prefer Android to iOS.

They are very different phones with very different experiences. I have a 6s and have just ordered the pixel 2XL as android system gives me a better and more integrated user experience. Apps on android tend to be better than iOS equivalent. iOS is like an app launcher with each app a separate experience. Android can combine apps much like a pc can. Android is highly customisable whereas iOS is Apples's version or not at all. The iPhone X is so expensive and has that ugly notch. The Pixel 2 XL has bezels. In the end it is personal preference.
