Buyers Remorse. Anyone starting to get it?

Who are you people that buy two different phones in two months. Must be some rich people here. I have plenty of money but keep my phones for 3 years. My Galaxy Note Edge is on its last legs so looking forward to a replacement soon still $1000 is too much to pay for a phone.

It's a boredom thing and always wanting the latest and possibly greatest. It is for me anyway. I don't think I've ever kept a phone longer than 3 months. I don't go out partying like I used to and don't drive fancy cars so my poison is buying new gadgets every few months

It's what the market will bear for a high end phone. For those people who make less there are payment plans or they should look at other options. There are phones at all levels that people can't afford. There are things I can't afford....that's just the way it is. Obviously there are plenty of people willing to part with it as evidenced by sales of Apple, Samsung, Google, etc.

Well, we don't actually know what the market will bear yet. We don't have enough sales figures for any of these exorbitantly expensive phones. The iPhone X isn't even out. Google is actually a non-factor in all of this seeing as they have less than 1% market share. Almost every buyer of the Pixel is a niche buyer, and takers on the top-tier Pixel 2 XL are niche of a niche.

It’s my lone vice. I drive an old paid off beater car. I don’t have expensive clothes or shoes. I take my lunch to work daily. I just spend my money on cell phones (and other tech) vs all that other stuff. Most people have a $500/mo car payment. Two months of that get you a new top of the line phone.

I told myself I wasn't going to get the Pixel this year because I got the Oneplus 5 8gb model about a month ago and really like it. I got caught up in the hype during the event and happen to go to the google store once the phone went on order. So excited to see it that I ordered and got a Oct 17th ship date.

A day later after the excitement died down I started to realize I just spend 1100 on a phone.

The Oneplus 5 may not be up there with the top flagships for its camera or display but their not bad either.

I may or may not cancel my order. I might even try it out and see how it is first.

Anyone else getting feeling the same because its a big investment

"If you just got a phone a month ago and told yourself you wouldn't buy the new phone" seems like you shouldn't have bought the new phone. If you are having second thoughts, you are going to have them throughout. The phone is expensive, yes, but if you keep it 2+ years it comes out to less than $2/day (which is less than most spend on coffee/breakfast alone)

only reason I have buyer's remorse is because I had a 128 GB Panda purchased as soon as then page came live. It did not take my trade in so I called Google and they said cancel your order and start over. Panda sold out. So now have a Black 64 GB version coming in two to three weeks. 😐

Only remorse for the 60 W Anker charger I ordered, which turns out was a pointless decision. I may return it for a portable battery instead.

No remorse. And I actually went full tilt and got the XL 2 with 128gb with the protection plan and a PixelBook with protection plan. I'm going all in on Google this year. I've been with iOS since 2015 with my 6s Plus. Checked out the 8 Plus and it's basically the same phone all over again. Not to mention that iOS 11 is pretty blah. I like a couple things, but it's pretty much the same ole. I just don't like the route Apple is taking right now. So, no remorse here. It's a lot of money. But it's worth it to be in an ecosystem that I prefer.

I bought a 128GB Pixel XL (unopened 6p replacement). No regrets, this is a great phone. While I've enjoyed my Nexus 4, 5 and 5x, I just couldn't justify the (Pixel 2 XL) spend for an LG phone sight unseen / unheld.

Always happens to me. Which is why I buy and sell a lot of phones. :-$

My problem is I never end up selling my phones :-! Pretty soon I'll be able to open a small museum of handsets.

I need to start putting some up for sale lol.

Lol. That's the only way my wife puts up with me buying so many phones is I have to sell off my old one. Lol

People are buying them at that price....that is the market. If people think it's too high it won't sell and the market will adjust and prices will drop. You don't have to agree. It's real simple...whoever thinks it too high doesn't have to buy one.

This exactly. I spend a lot on new phones, but it's a hobby I enjoy. I'm actually very frugal with everything else like you. I get flak from coworkers about it. I think because the initial cost of dropping $800-$900 every 3 to 6 months is more visible. But they don't bat an eye at dropping $20/day on Starbucks, and take-out lunches. Not to mention expensive car payments etc.

I have a decent income with no mouths to feed. Despite my ridiculous phone addiction I'm still living well within my means.

These aren't the first phones with higher prices. It's been almost all phones for the past 14 months. We can look at the S8 for sales figures.

People think nothing of dropping huge sums of money on lots of things but don't worry about justifying it. I like my food, my bourbon and my phones. The money is secondary and I'm at the stage of my life where I'm going to spoil myself.

It was sold out minutes after it went up for presale. Probably couldn't have gotten it anyway. Plus it's an extra month to get it!

I am probably going to cancel. I just bought the Oneplus 5 with 8 GB of ram. In raw power it'd be a downgrade going to 4gb even if its overkill.

I also realized I take very little photos and the O5 does ok overall.

No headphone jack means I'd have to buy a bose QC35 2 because I couldn't deal with that dongle. So that'd be another $350 at some point.

Not a big deal now but doesn't have support for the Tmobile 600mhz. I'd want this right away so I wouldn't get the whole three years out of this phone.

All this at a price tag of 1,100

I'm not sure I understand why you'd have do get these. There are lots of other choices, like these for $25. I have those and they sounds pretty good IMO. And they even have Apt-X HD which is supported on the Pixel 2.

Because I use my phone to watch movies and tv shows. I would like to continue with noise canceling top of the line
