Buyers Remorse. Anyone starting to get it?

The pure android and Project Fi are interesting bonuses that I want to try out.

I couldn't give up Verizon for Project Fi. I use a good amount of data and Fi gets expensive for high data users.

Or giving some up if you go with the Pixel 2. Wireless charging? Headphone jack? Great DAC? Dual cameras?

For me, it is very simple.

Wireless charging? I've never had it and so far I'm still alive and don't have problems charging my phone, so it's not something I need.

Headphone jack? I don't use it on my current phone, and I didn't use it on my last phone.

Great DAC? I don't care. For me, my phone is not a hi-fi audio system.

Dual cameras? Another thing I have never had and am still living without quite acceptably. Furthermore, the Pixel camera system continues to demonstrate that a dual-camera system is still not necessary for great pictures that can compete with those that come from dual-camera systems.

On the other hand, a clean software experience with quick OS and security updates? I've had it before and liked it and I want it again. I'm not going to a phone where I will have to wonder if I will ever get the new version of Android, let alone how long it will take for me to get it.

But like you said, that’s just you. Other might have a harder decision if they like the features of both phones.

Right. But let's be clear here: you said "like". I think sometimes people confuse liking features versus needing features versus giving up features they've had when deliberating between phones.

For instance--and this is just an example--if someone feels like he needs a phone with dual cameras but has never had a phone with dual cameras in the past, then is that particular feature really something that he needs? What is the feature offered by the dual cameras that this person wants? Speaking for myself, the only feature from my next camera that I really want is portrait mode, and I can get that without getting a phone with dual cameras. Would I like optical zoom or wide angle? Yes, but I haven't had either before and wouldn't use them often. Clearly, I really don't need either feature. I would use portrait mode, though, and have used it on other people's phones, so I want it on mine.

Another example would be quick updates. I don't need them. I've had phones without quick updates. But I didn't like having to wait and quick updates are something I'd be potentially giving up with my next phone. I wouldn't be happy about giving up the quick updates knowing what it's like to wonder when or if an OS update is going to arrive with the new features.

For some people, if they begin to look at things that way, it becomes easier to prioritize and figure out which phone to get.

It is fairly simple. It's just a matter of giving up some features if you want the V30.

There are a lot of good phones out there. Three things I really wanted this time were front facing stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.0, and water proofing. The pure android and Project Fi are interesting bonuses that I want to try out.

There was a phone 3 years back when I bought my current phone that had front facing speakers. However, it was not highly rated in other aspects so I ended up with a note instead.

I normally use bluetooth speakers but they are a good option to have when bluetooth speakers and headphones are not an option. (as long as they sound halfway decent at medium volume)

The V30 has many features that the Pixel does not have, therefore that's the reason I say it's not that simple. If they are features that you have no interest in or are not aware of that does not mean they don't exist.

If we look at things from a like verses need perspective we can eliminate most features that we think need because there really aren't that many that we truly need. There are people out there that don't need a phone if we pull the thread on things we actually need. This thread though is about buyer's remorse and I don't have any at the moment.

Of course. I never said we should only buy what we need. It's okay to have wants and to look for things that we want. But it's easy to like and want everything, and you're never going to get everything that you like and want. So people have to learn how and where to draw lines for themselves to avoid buyer's remorse.

Again, from the earlier example: I like the dual camera system, but I don't need it for the ability to get portrait mode photos that I want. See? I'm still getting what I want without needing another feature, which easily eliminates some choices for me.

Every day I look at my preorder and consider canceling. I have preordered 4 times and canceled 3. I just keep going back and forth on just keeping pixel xl and getting replacement as i have had like 3 reboots a day ever since 8.0 update. Main reason to upgrade 64gb vs current 32gb pixel xl and going to sign up for tmobile 2 months to get the 325 back on it and the free google home mini i was going buy anyway.

As long as you don't have to send in your trade in advance you could see simply try out the 2xl and return it.

yea getting pixel 2 as the xl seems a bit big for me as well so after doing tmobile deal, getting free google home mini i was going buy anyway and the 400 trade in from pixel xl i come out close to even for upgrade in long run just long game

Not at all. With the present trade - in offer of $400, I would say it is an offer that you cannot refuse.

Pre-ordering is for the birds.....I get so tired of a product being announced before it is ready to go out the door. Why not hold the Google even on Oct 17th and ship phones that day? Granted I will keep doing it because I am an early adopter, but man the hardest part is parting with the $$$$$ and then having to wait 2 or more weeks. When did this become the norm? Same thing happened with the Essential phone order, but they were a company of 50 people or something like that.....stepping down off soap box

I wish we had wireless charging, but no glass back is a plus for durability

No regrets super excited

Marketing, generates excitement before the official launch.

All companies do it really .. even Apple. Apple just usually has the best time line of announcement, end of the week pre-order, next week after the pre-order starts -> ship.
