Hello Android Central!
I will be on a trip in the Seattle area this week. I arrive on 22, will be staying in the same hotel until 26, then move to another hotel from 26 till 1 (Feb).
I am looking for the safest way to buy the unlocked Nexus 5.
My question is how reliable the shipment is from you experience? They say 1-2 business days to leave the warehouse and another 2-10 days to arrive. That's 3-12 days total. I am asking because I don't know where to ship it. If I ship to the first hotel it might arrive later and if I ship to the second it might arrive earlier.
What do you think is best?

Also, they say there's a 2 day shipping but I couldn't find anything on it...

Thanks!

I would have it shipped to the house of a friend or relative.

You could do to a T-Mobile store and buy it there. A bit more expensive but you'll walk out with one.

And they can unlock the phone? At what price? Will it be identical to the factory unlock from google than? I can't find any info on their website.

It is not locked to begin with. You can also buy one at a Best Buy store. Again, it will probably cost $100 more than in the Google Play Store.

I'd ship it to the second hotel, then contact them and let them know you're expecting a shipment. If it gets there early, they can hold it for you. It should arrive in time if you pay for expedited delivery, which is an option during checkout on Google Play.

You are probably already aware of this, but there are 2 versions; D820 (US) & D821(International).

I just received mine Friday. I ordered it on Thursday at 445pm and chose overnight delivery. I received shipping notification at 1030pm and received it Friday at 330pm.

I ordered mine at 6pm Eastern time, checked my email next morning around 8am and somehow somewhat my N5 came 2 hours later before I go to work :) very much impressed!

So your N5 was delivered 16 hours after you placed your order (not accounting for unknown timezones)? Do you live in the distribution center parking lot?? :what:

Alert the first hotel that you are expecting a package which may arrive up to a few days before you do. If it has not arrived by the time you are moving to the other hotel, ask them (the first hotel) to hold it for you and you will return to pick it up.

Hotels deal with this sort of thing all the time, especially for business travelers.

This worth mentioning again, and is something that I completely forgot about. If you get one in the US you will have one that's prepped for the US bands of LTE. So depending on where else you travel you may or may not be able to get LTE. Something to consider.

I worked with a bunch of guys from Russia and apparently the Nexus 7 and 5, iPhone, iPads, etc. are hard to get there and very expensive. So whenever they come over they always go to Amazon and have stuff shipped to their hotel. If necessary they use the 1 day service. After being in the US for a week or two they go home with an additional 10 pounds of luggage!:D

Hi guys just wanted to update that I had ordered from google on Jan 23 with overnight shipping and when I arrived at the hotel on 26 it was already there (Even though it was a weekend and the tracker shows the package will only leave the warehouse on 27).
