Got my S9 Plus yesterday. Is there a way to bypass the lock screen from the standby screen? Hoping there's a fix for this. When using the phone if I press the power button it takes me to the standby screen (clock, home button, etc). To get back into my phone I need to press the power button again, swipe up and unlock it (pattern, biometrics, etc.).

I have Smart Lock enabled via Trusted Places, Trusted Devices, etc. but I'm still having to unlock my phone all the time.

Any ideas? Thanks!

You can't bypass the lock screen with the power button but you can with the home button (hard press, needs to be enabled). If the option is active, turning the screen off with the power button will also automatically lock the phone, but if smart lock is enabled, that should be overridden. Same thing for locking the phone after a certain time since the screen times out.

Do you have any device administrators or an exchange account maybe? Those might be blocking smart unlocks (corporate email accounts are especially picky about these)

SpookDroid, thanks, it's a new phone with no device administrators or exchange account. I figured Smart Lock would fix it but perhaps I'm misunderstanding the purpose. When I'm done using my phone I like to go to the standby screen so I press the power button to do it. I'm fine with pressing the power button again to leave the standby screen but I keep getting the unlock screen.

With smart lock that should be the case (I'm using it right now with BT headphones and even if I press the power button to go to standby it doesn't lock the phone) BUT it will show the lockscreen, which I can just swipe away, if I press the button to turn it back on. The only way I don't see the lock screen is by hard pressing the home button (again, option needs to be enabled) or by touching the FPS

So is it normal to see the lock screen even if the phone is already unlocked by smart lock?

Smart Lock for trusted places works spotty at best. Having your phone paired to a BT device works well. Of course, you have to enable the device as a trusted device first.

lol lazy.

When i press the power button, or long press the software home button, the biometrics kick in and it unlocks, i don't have to swipe up or anything.

Usually i just use the fingerprint scanner though, as its only 1 touch to unlock it.

Either way one button click or 1 touch is not exactly inconvenient.

Smart lock isn't very robust, so i don't use it at all. Plus i don't like the fact that someone could pickup my phone at home and use it without me knowing about it.

If the phone is locked and you press the power button, so you have to swipe up or unlock the phone with any method. It's impossible that if you press the home button, you find yourself in the home screen

?? Yea i know i didn't say it did, but the lock screen only shows for a second using that method with biometrics.

Anyway finger print scan goes straight from screen off and locked to the home screen.

I have trusted place on and live in guarded building where there is basically no chance for anyone picking up my phone until off premises. Touch the power button once and it requires pass. to get in again! I want it to stay unlocked until I leave. Is this possible as my trusted place is by GPS coordinates and Bluetooth device? Thanks with any feedback. It's a s9+.

Settings, lock screen and security, smart lock.
You can use your location, device or even your voice to unlock the phone.
