Calendar popups no longer showing

I have a Samsung-SM-J727A. I no longer get popup calendar reminders, which I used to get. I have seen where you could set up the phone to get them on the lockscreen, but I can't use the lockscreen, because I can't turn off the %$#@ clock image, which I don't want to see. Is there a way to get pop up reminders outside the lockscreen (that aren't "content hidden"), or get rid of the clock on the lockscreen? I have googled both settings issues until I'm blue and tried a dozen different kinds of settings, and nothing works.

I'm tired of missing calendar reminders because they only appear up in my notifications area.
