Calendar timezone help

Hello all - I'm new to Android and this forum. I set up my calendar on google.com and entered appointments for a city in a different timezone than my home. The times were entered for the local time where my appointments would occur. When I arrived in the new location my phone (Droid X) saw that I was in in a different timezone and adjusted my appointments to 3 hours earlier to account for the difference in time. So instead of appointments staying at , say, 9 AM as they should have, they were adjusted to 6AM.

What setting did I miss that would have left the times alone?
