Calender doesn't alert me

When I add events in Google Calender I ask it to give me a pop reminder at certain intervals. However I dont get any reminders of these synced events on my phone. Anyone have this problem?

In addition to the event's notification settings, have you turned on Notifications in the General Settings? Calendar -> Menu -> Settings -> General -> Notifications
