Call issue: Note 8

Since Monday (16 days after receiving the Note) others cannot hear me when I answer incoming calls or make outgoing calls.

It works using speakerphone
It works through my hearing aids (Bluetooth)
It does not record voice
It works on Duo and other IP phone services
Booting into safe mode did not resolve issue
Cache clearing did not help
Sim into my s7edge works fine
Conclusion: issue with phone likely hardware related

I took it to the Vodacom shop where I bought it. Technician quickly confirmed my issue and escalated to the main technical centre. Late yesterday afternoon I received an sms to advise it has been escalated "advanced repair centre" for higher level repair..

Will keep thread updated.
 
Nothing worth updating... Just send it back for repair under warranty... Happens all the time with electronics sometimes you get a dud.
 
How are you having it work through your hearing aids? What type of HA are you using? My Oticon OPN aids won't work with BT on Android.

Resound hearing aids. Works fine with all Samsung smartphones. Been using the combination since I bought my S4 in 2014.

A Bluetooth clip called "unite" in Resound speak is required. Media streaming has its hiccups but the phone part is very good. App on the phone allows differential adjustment to earpieces
 
i had a similar issue. microphone died, Google assistant and Bixby couldn't detect my voice, could only use a speakerphone. I bought from SAMSUNG with trade in, it happened 7 days from ordering. SAMSUNG sent me a brand new replacement after 2 days on the phone with them, and a lot of frustration. Will never deal with them directly again. Verizon offered to send me a refurbished device since it seemed I could only return the defective device and lose my trade in. Fortunately someone from SAMSUNG called me back 3 days later, put a hold on my credit card in case I don't return a defective device, and sent me a brand new replacement. so far it's working
 
Got the note back in pristine condition. The sim reader assembly was replaced, as was the mike pickup assembly. Latest version flashed.
  • speaker output improved
  • wireless charging improved. no longer have to take off UAG case
And call issue resolved
 
I have had the same issue repeatedly. It always resolves with restating the phone. I hope a software update fixes the problem.
