Call recording with S20 FE 5G

It's crazy for a company to actively restrict legal behavior.

I'm going to take extra good care of my car now to delay buying a new one that might not be able to exceed 15 MPH because that is the legal maximum in school zones where I live.

But when in Rome..... I'm off to demand my Senator draft a law that says bricks must be made of foam rubber so that rioters can't break windows with them.

No it's not crazy at all. In today's environment there are liability issues that come with the territory.

Why do cars speed not restricted to 150KPH globally? Going faster than that is illegal all over the world apart from Germany.

A car manufacturer that will limit speed to 150KPH will lose his business, because buyers want to know they can go faster even if it's illegal and they'll never do it. So why on earth can't I get a phone that allows me to record calls which is perfectly legal in my country and also in most of the other countries in the world (including most states in the USA). This is a blatant interference with local law. The only reason why Google and Apple can get away with it is because they have a monopoly in smartphone OS.

It's not an interference with local law. No one is preventing you from recording calls in any country or any state. You just don't have easy access to a method to do it from within the operating system.

Incorrect. They are preventing me from getting access to the in-call sound during phone conversation. This prevents any 3rd party app from providing call recording (that doesn't rely on you putting the call on speaker and recording from the speaker). The only way to still try and get access to the in-call sound is to root the phone, potentially losing warranty plus many other features.

Go back and read again. He said they were interfering with his ability to record which is entirely legal to do. He didn't say they were interfering with laws. Surely you aren't implying that any product should only do what some law requires it to do.

For the sake of phone users, do you want phone makers to include call recording? If you were in charge, would phones have that? Just trying to figure out where you are coming from.

I realize call recording is available with some versions of firmware. But don't understand if you are just re-confirming that or are hinting at how to make it available on other firmwares.

What is CSC? Are you saying you can change whatever that is without changing firmware and doing so can enable call recording?

And if the firmware has to be changed, is the firmware you mentioned for a Snapdragon S20 FE 5G?

And if you can change the CSC without changing firmware, is there any way to know what else beside call recording could be effected?

I've found apps that apparently can record calls but you have to give them access to everything, so not worth the risks for me.

Fortunately, I almost never want to record a call when away from home so I've just been making calls I want to record in speaker phone mode and recording my calls using Windows Voice Recorder on a PC or laptop. But would be much better to be able to record calls with the phone itself.

The flashing procedure is mostly the same when it comes to different CSCs. You have to load the 4 files, reboot to download mode and hit start, as we have explained in the Odin guide. The choice between CSC and HOME_CSC is yours, but you’ll need to use CSC when you need to change from a locked country code to an open one. For example, this is the case if you want to unlock your device from any carrier branding. Otherwise, flashing an OXM firmware from a different country will leave the current CSC as it is, so you can enjoy your updates without further complications.

Yes CSC is the region,carrier and what gets loaded onto the phone, now using odin u can flash different CSC to get certain features like rcs or call record but you won't get software update until you flash back your stock CSC. You only need CSC file to flash in Odin but Tmobile doesn't have a CSC with call recording so it doesn't apply for you .
