Suddenly, the volume of phone calls have lowered to levels that make understanding phone calls difficult. I didn't make any changes. It seems to be associated with the Assistant.
The volume otherwise is OK. I've tried the command in Assistant but it tells me that the volume is at maximum.
What could I be missing? Thanks.

The speaker phone. The volume has, up to this point, worked perfectly.
The one difference now is with calls to my wife's new phone. {Jitterbug}. {Don't ask.} Perhaps that's the problem.

And just to be certain, when you're on a call and you press Volume Up, you see the volume slider for calls go all the way up?

Yes.
I've tried to compensate for the decrease in volume for phone calls by moving the Call Volume slider to MAX. It has heiped, but I originally lowered the volume on calls because the HIGH setting distorted the callers voice. {I have a Cochlear Implant.}

I have experimented by turning off Bluetooth associated with the Implant, but it didn't change anything.

i think speakerphone uses the speaker at the bottom of the phone, so make sure that speaker grille isn't clogged by any debris.

I'd start with a can of compressed air to blow it out. If that's not enough, I'd use a dry soft bristle toothbrush to scrub it.

I've cleaned the bottom speaker outlets and the problem persists. I can hear calls but the volume is still low. It's never been this way. I've taken all the steps that I think can be part of the problem. Settings >all maxed, Assistant >max volume. What else can I try?

You said the problem is primarily with calls to your wife's phone. So does that mean if you make a speakerphone call to anyone else, the volume is fine?

No, actually the problem is with all calls. My wife's phone just happened to be the first time the problem occurred. Today, I've handed a few calls and the problem is still there. The person on the other end of the call seems to hear me OK.
I've always had to use the speaker on all of my previous phones because of my hearing problem but the volume was never this low.
Because I've been looking at everything on this phone, I noticed that the speaker at the top of phone seems to be covered by the case. The difference in volume between the top speaker and the bottom speaker is noticeable but the bottom speaker is still too low. If there is no other sound in the room and I listen carefully, I can understand what is being said.
I again want to thank you for your efforts to help me.

There is one incident that happened when the problem first appeared. My wife, who is a TECHNICPHOBIC, was using my phone to help set up her phone, when she muttered some expletives in frustration and handed the phone back to me. I couldn't imagine what she would have done to create this problem. As a precaution, I checked the settings that she might have inadvertently changed and didn't find anything.

Regarding taking the case off, I'll have to wait until I have an opportunity to test the phone during phone calls. I get and make few calls and I'm fearful to operate the phone without the case on for an extended period of time.

Go to Settings>Sound & Vibration and make sure Adaptive Sound is turned off. (If it's already off, try turning it on to see if that does anything.)
