Although the One predictably did not score well compared to other flagships, IMO Zoe's and Highlights are so unique and good that they make up for the camera's deficiencies. When I know I am going out and will be taking photos, I pop the SIM in my One and leave the S4 and it's better camera behind. It would be great if HTC to introduce some more tweaks in future upgrades to bring the camera's performance in line with its competitors.

From my experience, the HTC One does better in low-light conditions than the S4 and the Note II; however in daylight, the HTC One's pictures are very realistic, what you see is what you get, whereas the S4 has some over exposure and such settings which make the pictures seem better when in reality it isn't. I am pretty certain that if someone knows how to play in the settings and do everything manually, they can take GREAT photos with the HTC One.

The article mentions the One's camera being a little quirky concerning focusing. We hear that a lot here on the forum as well. I USUALLY get good focus using "tap to focus", but not always. HTC needs to address this - and we have no idea if any camera improvements are coming with the operating system update- assuming if and when that is also coming. Right now all I hear is crickets.

Doesn't seem that much better then my Samsung galaxy nexus. It is more realistic and better low light. Not sharp or crisp at all and often blurry.... Hype doesn't live up. I wish this phone had the galaxy s 4 camera. The phone it self is awesome and for me it is the best out there. I've tried camera apps and I get the same results. Maybe an update will fix .

For camera S4 is better in most of samples colour is more natural and exposure is better too, 4mp is just too less many details are lost, only reason stopping me from upgrading to one.

Maybe next year they will come up with 8mp ultra pixel well htc have made a winner this year though.

As displayed on a 1080P monitor (2 megapixels), and without zooming, it is not possible for there to be any detail missing that is attributable a source image containing 4 megapixes. (twice as many pixels as are even being displayed).

I have no case to offer that the amount of detail captured by the One is any better (or worse) than that of other camera phones. If it is worse, it is for reasons other than megapixels (such as the software).

Yeah of course, It is completely a matter of personal preference and the reason I think 4mp is less because in a few years we will have 4k(more than 8 mp) tvs and i would definitely want to display all those photos and i wouldn't want them to be blur out at that time, but again a personal preference also I like to zoom in to view small details, specially if you like to take pictures of sceneries or if you travel somewhere. As far as exposure etc are concerned I think S4 was a bit better overall after looking at many samples but one's camera does have other advantages too like faster shutter speed and better low light photography.
