camera is really blurry

Im actually quite dissapointed in the picture quality. From what I can tell from using it, the Incs pic quality seems better hands down :(. Mine isnt at clear or crisp.

I agree the incredible camera is nicer. I can't get any good pics with the x.

Just out of curiousity, can you guys take a look at these 2 pics and answer me one thing? Are these blurry pictures you guys are complaining about more consistent with the quality of the first pic, or the second pic?

My Father in law's Droid X has some serious Picture&Video quality issues too....maybe there is a software issure or a bad batch of phones?

1'st pic is what my Father in law's Droid X pics look like....almost like they are steamed up...just plain blurry for some reason ??
Help ??

Wow, 1st picture is what my come out like. How did you get the second picture so sharp and crisp with less noise.

agreed.......the 1st pic is the way most of my pics come out.....except when it's outdoors with lots of natural light. Indoor shots are 100% always grainy and looks like I took the pictures through a dirty window and/or screen.

what is the change between the 2 pictures? did you force a slower ISO setting in the second picture?

Both those shots were taken on auto settings, for everything.

The difference? I cleaned my lens with a micro-fiber cloth.

unwanted watercolor effect

any suggestions on why my photos are having an unwanted watercolor effect applied?
am i overlooking something?

my settings are:
Scenes > auto
Effects > Normal
Picture Modes > Single shot
Camera Settings
Picture Resolution > Widescreen
Face Detection > checked
ISO equiv. sensitivity > auto
Exposure > 0
Shutter Animation > None

phone model > droid2

at the bottom of this message, i've attached one of today's photo so you can see what i am referring to.

i just cropped it and uploaded it with no resizing, etc.
the baby cow was about 8 foot away in this photo.

i guess it is possible that i wasn't perfectly still but is was sitting on the ground with my elbows on my knees so i was as steady as one could be. the evening sun was behind me.

unfortunately, all of my photos have this crazy watercolor effect.

any suggestions on how to take just regular photos with no special effect would be greatly appreciated.

I actually had a friend who sent his DX back for a replacement due to blurry pictures. Turns out, he forgot to take the protective plastic off the lens before he fired it up.:-[

Have you tried using the on screen camera button instead of the button because I prefer it, also do you hold the button to allow the camera to focus before taking the shot... The camera isnt great but it does ok, the camera does better in well lighted areas compared to low light.

Tried cleaning his meticoulously before and still the same blur problem with the camera.
The HTC Incredible takes way clearer pics side by side yet they are both 8Mp cameras...weird.

Good tips have been offered, so no need to repeat. I find that pictures using the Vignette camera app are often much crisper than those take with the stock camera. However, I've found that when using the flash, I prefer the stock camera. There's something odd about Vignette's light metering.

I can agree with this one, this is one reason I am considering it for my upcoming upgrade... The camera is nice and I really miss the Sense UI..
