Camera lag/blurry pictures

Lol you are "having" your wife get a Photon?! Yeah, I'd love to see my husband try that on me. You know what opinions are like and you, sir, are a very condescending one.

How glib you are Madam. My post obviously insulted your pride, but that was all that you could come up with .. You truly make Android users look like total morons. Please leave these matters up to the adults . thanks for your 2 cents. The fact of the matter is that after expereincing first hand for herself the problems with this device she posed the question to me of "since this camera doesn't respond the way she'd like it to and the heating up issue is plainly one of safety being that it's obviously omitting a large amount of cell waves. What is a comproble device that is not having these issues?" Photon. Again .. I hope that these matters are worked out by HTC for again I've been using their products for years now.... :)

Great article, but if you notice all of the sample pics are of stationary objects, I would like the author to show me a sample picture of a walking and crawling toddler. I am going through the same issues, I also came from a palm pre and lets face it we don't expect professional pictures out of our cell phones, but at least a decent snap shot that we can show our friends!!!!!

I'm the one that wrote that article, Thanks for the compliment. As someone said before, raise the ISO to 800 if you have to. Drop the exposure down one or so if it becomes too overexposed.

I agree with CarrieK, you did a great job.
but don't hold your breath. most people today just want a magic camera built into their cellphone that will give them awesome pictures without having to even take the phone out of their pocket. now you want them to change the ISO? how dare you! :p

here is a video I took on the first day I got the phone. all settings default. it's in 3D so use your phone.
you'll see that the censor is changing the white balance a bit due to my different lighting I need to use for my chameleons. in other words, it didn't do a great job. but it did a good job for a phone's camera even in "strange" lighting on auto/default settings.

Do you really think people can't see what you're trying to do on here? Had you not kept trying to push the Photon in each of your comments, you might have been a little more believable. That's cool that you like the Photon, but it's really not necessary to justify your purchase, by bashing other phones. You sir are the one making Android users look bad, with comments like this.

Lol, he had me until Photon. While I agree the phone could do a much better job taking photos, it seems to be it's only fault. Or at least the biggest for me. He may or may not get better photos with the photon, I don't know. I'd be willing to bet he gets a LOT more battery pulls though. Sounds like he deserves it though

Anyone that was having this same issue as me notice it getting better after the update? I haven't updated my phone yet, so I was just curious.

yes there is still shutter lag, but we were wondering if you uped your ISO at all and tested it out?
it should help "freeze" the action for you in low light as well as in the shade.

One thing I did notice with the new update is that I don't have to make as many manual settings as I did before, although I still change them sometimes according to the article depending on the situation. The pictures of my cat were taken after I had changed the review duration to no review and I was able to catch him in "mid lick" so to speak. While there is a bit of shutter lag I am still able to take more pictures in a row quicker now.

I tried your suggestions of taking pictures of my kid with full indoor light and the iso cranked up. I still get the same blurry pictures because of the shutter lag with the camera. Outdoor pictures seem to be fine. Is this something that can be fixed with a software update or my wife and I both need to return our phones. We really like them but this issue with this camera is really bad.

Yes, it is the software. I just "updated," last week and the camera went from outstanding to horrid. Thanks for the ideas. I'm going to my provider too to ask for a fix.

Oh Vick! ;) :) I've gotten a lot of action shots. If you do want to try something new, give the Amaze hack a shot. I mod my phone a lot so while I could work with the stock camera, the Amaze hack is great. Just a suggestion!

Has anyone tried the .10 app for today...CameraZoom fx? Opening poster...are you using an otter box case? I was getting horribly blurry pictures, I then took my otter box case off and couldn't believe the difference.

I don't have the otter box case, but I don't see how that would cause the shutter lag with the awful stock camera app. I did download the .10 app yesterday, but haven't tried it yet. Does it help with this problem?

Holy crap, this app is freaking awesome, buying the full version for sure!

Vick,

Did the .10 app help with the lag and general crappy software that is on the stock camera app? I can't take a non-blurry picture of a moving subject to save my life with the stock app. What is the full version that you are talking about? Isn't the .10 app from yesterday the full app?
Thanks.

The lag is down to the slow autofocus time i believe, as long as autofocus is on it will be slow and therefore be blurry if objects move. I have to expirement with autofocus off to see if that helps it. HDR camera i have the preview version which is awesome. Camera zoom fx is the full version.

Confirmed: No review off. Autofocus off. Shutter is still slow enough to cause blur.
