Camera not living up to expectations

Coming from an HTC One M8, it sure as hell can't be any worse than what I've got right now!

I had the M7, you have my sympathies ULTRAPIXELS!

The Nexus 6P has a pretty capable camera. In fact, it's the first Nexus that I can truly say has a wonderful camera.

While the larger pixels mean that OIS isn't really needed for pictures, it would still be nice to have it for video.

I've had the phone for 4 days, and immediately (upon receipt) begun taking pictures in all sorts of lighting conditions (low light, overcast, bright, indoor, motion) and of different subjects (plants, trees, people, cars, buildings).
After doing so, I'm not too impressed by the camera in low light situations OR with zoom on previously taken photos.

Anyone else?

I'd seen some images from the MXPE (on a youtube video) of a guy who took a photo of a flower and zoomed in and you could see the hair on a bee's leg. From the pictures i've taken, i don't think the N6P could match this. Is this where the 21mp v 12mp comes into play?

(other features, like Doze, are fantastic and live up to the hype)

I'm sorry but all the reviews I have seen give the Nexus 6p camera a good review. Also this is the most positive camera reviews I've seen for a Nexus phone.

I have both MXPE and 6P in my hand (returning the MXPE for refund today after using it for 10 days), and I would say that aside from pics in perfect lighting conditions where the MXPE can really make its 21MP count, the 6P beats the MXPE in all other areas, especially indoor and at night.

The 8MP front camera of the 6P is also significantly superior to that of the MXPE. With the MXPE (and all the other smartphones I've tried) I often found myself wanting to use the rear camera instead for selfies, but the 6P takes good enough pics with the front camera that I for once don't mind using the front camera for selfies that are worthy of sharing anymore.

Does Spider leg hair get your juices flowing? Maybe you're doing it wrong...idk i love this camera compared to Nexus 5.
