Is it possible to override the function of the camera where the camera won't record or take pictures once the battery is low? It is really annoying. I am rooted if it helps.

i'm not sure with the stock camera, but you can use other cams like FXcamera with a low battery.

thanks for the tip I don't know whyI didn't think of that. Im kicking myself pretty hard right now.

i'm still not sure what would blow up if you lost a photo from a dying battery w/ the stock camera. i can understand not uploading photos with a low batt, but just taking a photo? dumb, IMO.

Agreed, it irked me at the time because I was at a concert and the camera forced closed because of low battery, I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't even think of using another app. I tried the fx camera you suggested and it works even with low battery.

I had the same concern. I learned of this oversight when i was still breaking in my phone several month ago and thought the problem to be insignificant. But its funny how often you'll find you have low battery and decide to use the camera, but realize you used most of your battery life before while online or using some app.

I don't know if this is something a rom can address. Is it? IT would really be nice to have the stock camera app but without the low battery incompatibility.

Its not an oversight its a Samsung "feature" that my Omnia had too. At least the fascinate doesn't have the same feature where it doesn't let you make calls with low battery either. Anyway I don't know a solution but here is lifehacker.com list of best photo apps for your android.

Ahh... good to know. Makes you wonder why Samsung would think it a feature that offers any benefit, over not having it. It can't save anymore battery life, other than forcing users to not use a piece of the hardware when battery levels are low. Kind of like the body taking blood away from the extremities when its really cold...huh it really is a smart phone.
