Camera SUPER Blurry (literally) After Apex/Liberty For GB

I've flashed both ROMs (latest builds) and both have made my camera EXTREMELY blurry. I have tried both the stock Camera app, as well as Camera 360 Ultimate and have the same results. It's as if my camera now refuses to focus. Is there anyway I can re-calibrate my camera? Any help would be much appreciated!

Completely untouched photo.

Gaaah...

I haven't had that. AOSP one works fine. Hmmmm. Apex and liberty have zero to do with the camera, blur or stock. Calibration? Dunno. You could re install the camera apk? Maybe check the glass and make sure it is unobstructed and clean. I had a case (kraken) that messed with my camera.

The lens isn't obstructed in anyway, Tried clearing the cache on the Camera and nothing. Where can I find the Camera.apk online? Will I be ok with uninstalling the original Camera w/Titanium Backup?

UPDATE: Tried uninstalling/reinstalling different Camera.apk, no improvement. Very pissed :/

Do you guys think I should try to SBF back to stock GB or even Froyo? That's going to suck.
I have no idea what could be wrong, my camera was fine up until Liberty V0.7 :'(

I'm assuming the lens is clean, and it doesn't look like motion blur (although Camera360 apparently doesn't store EXIF data, it looks like it may be a slow shutter speed shot). Are you by chance in macro mode? Macro mode will focus on things close up, but produce pretty poor results at normal distances.

No, auto-mode. I also tried Infinite. All photos look this way, it's like the camera is semi-focused, I press lightly to focus, it completely unfocuses, than snaps the shot. I'm going to SBF to .340 when I get off work in about an hour and a half and see if it works than. If it does I'll start climbing my way back up the ladder to Apex, if it doesn't I'll be calling Verizon to try and get a replacement because I can't live without my 8MP camera!

^Gross!

A few quick things to try:

1. Try toggling macro mode on and off (even taking a few pics with it on couldn't hurt).
2. Try taking a picture of something up close, only an inch or so from the lens.
3. Try turning on the flash to see if that helps.
4. Try using the stock app, Camera 360 is removing some data about the shot that may be useful (shutter speed, aperture, ISO setting, etc.).

It really looks like these are shot with macro mode on, I wonder if it somehow got stuck like that. I'm a bit iffy on whether #3 will work, the TV should be producing a lot of light. Still, it's one less thing to worry about.

Thanks for the sample pics - so many times people report issues and we've got to troubleshoot blind.

I ended up SBFing already. Seemed to have cleaned it up (doesn't look amazing, but better). I'll post some sample pics when I get back to .596

So does better work, or are you going to replace the phone? Sounds like it is the aperture?

All taken on either Froyo, TBH GB .596, and Liberty & Apex Rom-Mod-AOSP W/stock camera @ auto-everything/8MP quality.

Closer photos look better

What would you guys do? Go back to stock Froyo and try and get an exchange or just suck it up?

It really does seem like it's just stuck in macro mode somehow, perhaps that can help guide your searches? I've seen reports of people doing a complete wipe (clear the cache and data, then install whatever ROM you want) and having that clear the issue. I've found a post suggesting to power down the phone, remove the battery for a few minutes, then power it back up again, but no indication as to whether it worked.

It's interesting that all of your shots are F2.8 and 1/15 second, only the ISO is automatically adjusted. I'll have to explore my own shots to see if that's a theme.

Personally I don't like the idea of sending it back, it happened during a ROM update during which a glitch may have caused the problem - one of the reasons rooting voids the warranty. If it had happened to me I would say it's clearly my fault and I'd just continue to play with it myself until I was able to figure it out - but I've got a pure stock D2G to fall back on and a Nikon D200 for things I really care about.

I'm also fairly certain that if it was caused by software it can be cleared via software if you play with it enough. Perhaps this is an excuse for playing with Rubex or the CM7 beta? Last I heard, CM7 completely broke the camera, I'd be tempted to install it and then go back to Liberty just to see if that clears things.

BTW, what's that weird black CD you've got in the first shot? ;)

I clear my data/cache before every ROM flash and did this multiple times today. I'll try a battery pull for a few minutes.

The album is Deftones - Covers. An RSD exclusive. :)

If it was stuck in macro, the close ups would be immaculate. It does seem that way though. Plenty of. Evidence to take it back IMO.

Mine's having the same problem...except my up close ones are really blurry, the far out ones are blurry as well. it's impossible to take a picture of something with text written on it. I'm trying the battery pull but since i got GB my phone restarts like 9x a day..waiting 5 minutes before putting it back in

Is it known if you can install the stock camera apk over CM7 without causing a singularity and ending the world?

I haven't had any issues with my camera quality since update, the only thing I notice is that at times I get better shots when I simply tap (Instead of hold and focus) with on screen button.

This was shots with Stock Camera..
