Camera update? Do US One's really have it?

I'm not sure we can determine the reality of the situation. You have to either choose to believe the HTC rep or not.

It wasn't just a rep. We're talking about a higher up in HTC that knows what he's talking about.

Exactly. Notice the title of the source from HTC.

Rep = representative. Someone who's speaking on behalf of the company. I'm not implying anything about this person's title. It really doesn't matter what their title rank is, it's more about what they should reasonably know. And my point was that AC was just quoting someone, not making this stuff up. The reader then has to choose to either believe the source or not.

Sprint got update 1.29 last week. And if you google t mobile HTC one camera problems you will see that T-Mobile has acknowledge the camera issue and said an update is on the way. I think the HTC guy might have been unsure or what was baked in ain't working. My camera seems blurry at times.

AC got their information straight from HTC. Why would they lie knowing they could/would get caught? Stop paying so much attention to version numbers....

For what its worth. When I called HTC regarding my camera and button sensitivity issue. The tech support person said...That is the first time he heard if the issues.
Go figure

I don't expect a perfect picture every time....

Doesn't surprise me.

He was not unsure of anything. The US phones have the camera update.

As with any technology, however, once a device gets into the hands of a much wider population (that all use it differently) other sets of problems may emerge.

This has been discussed many times over. Either you trust what HTC says speed as part of the firmware or you don't.

That's my right. At this point we have a single HTC spokesperson saying the camera update is in the NA devices. We have the development community saying they aren't convinced. We have side by side photos which are fairly inconclusive. There's also confusion around the version numbers and what they mean, but it's clear that the camera software has different version numbers.

My point that unless someone has other info I don't think anyone can say for sure what the situation is.

I'm sure because I have a focusing issue on my camera. The article that mentions sprints update to 1.29 states that the changelog says camera fix and capacitive button fix. T-Mobile acknowledged the issue and says there is an update on the way. This leads me to strongly believe that the 1.29 update may be this fix. Or maybe it will be 1.3 or 1.4 who cares what version it is as long as it fixes the problem. The update that was supposed to be " baked in " is not working on some phones ..

I didn't say it wasn't your right.

I choose to believe HTC because they make the device, firmware, and camera software. Also, I have no camera performance issues.

There's a sticky with people taking pictures with their camera and far better than the pictures I took.

Until something official says otherwise I'm trusting what was said in the email.

How are you so sure?

Because HTC (more than one person from them, mind you) says so. Because our cameras exhibited NONE of the issues that the original European batches did. Because it's common sense.

We can say for sure. You just have chosen not to believe it.

I don't see why this is even an argument. HTC says that the update was baked into the north American market devices. Every review that had negative points on the camera retracted their statements and said that they were using pre release software. Chances are if your cameras are not producing the images you like, it is because you do not fully understand how to structure your phone to do so. Blurry pictures are almost always attributed to improper focus.

That was an autocorrect error, I meant to say "That's right" not sure where they "my" came from. Sorry for the confusion.

OK well that changes things. So far I've just seen this single rep quoted by AC in their article. Who are the other sources?

Because our cameras exhibited NONE of the issues that the original European batches did.
Really? What about the side by side comparisons?

Because it's common sense.
Really?

I haven't chosen to believe anything as I don't believe we have conclusive evidence.

I don't see why this is even an argument. HTC says that the update was baked into the north American market devices.
So far I've only seen a single rep quoted. He/she could have been misinformed or may have simply stated something that wasn't true. JHBThree stated there were other HTC reps that said the same thing. This would give the statement considerably more weight IMHO. I just haven't see these other sources quoted.

Every review that had negative points on the camera retracted their statements and said that they were using pre release software.
Well when they were using pre-release software they said that, but there have been plenty of negative reviews about the One's camera since the release. This also doesn't speak to the question at hand about European models getting an update that was possibly shipped with NA models, but might not have been.

Chances are if your cameras are not producing the images you like, it is because you do not fully understand how to structure your phone to do so. Blurry pictures are almost always attributed to improper focus.
While I'm no photographer, this is is a smart phone, one shouldn't need to be a photographer to get decent pictures. The One's camera is adequate at best, it's really the one issue that is bothersome. The rest of this device is amazing.

My phone is on automatic settings here. Tell me why I have to adjust my camera with this setting?

Are you shooting through a windshield? If so, that's part of the problem with this particular picture. Also, the lighting looks like the worst possible scenario for a camera (in general, not just phone cameras).

Also, it's kind of unrealistic to expect a great picture every single time. If software could get it right every time, then DSLR's wouldn't have manual adjustments. :)
