Can A Blackberry User Be Happy WIth Rezound?

Having used a Blackberry Bold (latest Models) for 7 years, can any Rezound users honestly say they made the switch from BB and are happy/sticking with the Rezound?

My main use is for making and receiving calls, constant Email replies and texting. Would like to upgrade to a proper SmartPhone and larger screen but lacking confidence after trying the GNexus and poor call quality/reception since launch.

Does the Rezound support Push Emails and can the you set your own Profiles for Notifications to have different ringtones for calls, Emails etc on Sleep Mode?

Thanks for any advice - GN has to go back!

I take it you aren't purchasing a phone based on rooting, roms etc.,. in the dev. community. If that's the case, the Rezound is a perfect phone for you if this is going to your main usage. It will do what you want, all of what you listed above, like a champion. If you hate enjoying a phone that makes you smile to play w/ on a daily basis, don't get the Rezound, it will make you giggle like a schoolgirl. Have you seen Snoopy, from Peanuts, do his lil dance when he's really happy? It can be embarassing but the Rezound will make you do the same thing, This is the only phone that I could actually picture myself owning as a stock device and not rip my hair out if it won't be perm rooted. That's been a huge deal to me in the past. I can't wait to see ICS work it's way to the majority of the non Nexii owning majority but this one will keep me preoccupied nicely till irt does.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose the GN since it seems you're more of a typical consumer/user, than the average vanilla lovin' Nexii owner or Android OS developer?

At least i wouldn't consider the possibility until (if) RIM does something really revolutionary with their OS. Push email works well on any Android phone, Rezound included, but I would say it's one very small step below BB in reliability. That's to say that maybe one email in 100-200 has an issue with syncing (delayed). Profiles I can't comment on because I've never used them.

The only thing i miss immensely is the physical keyboard. No matter how good an on-screen keyboard is, it just never replaces the tactile feel of a standard one, especially the Bold's. Having said that, I value the substantially larger screen far more than i miss the Bold's keyboard so for me it's a good trade off.

The Rezound is my 4th Android device and my favorite so far. I don't think you'd be disappointed. Android is a huge departure from BB OS, you'll find that it's a true smartphone whereas BB, at least up until very recently, has been pretty much a basic messaging phone by comparison. There's so much more you can do with it.

Good post, it really is like comparing a glorified messaging device to a rather powerful, handheld computer.

This is my 3 rd android phone. I was a faithful BlackBerry user for almost 10 years. I really do like the resound. I never knew how much you could do with a smart phone until reading up on these forums. I used my first smartphones for months before I rooted and rommed them. Rezound devs are working on getting this phone s off, to enable rooting and modding. However, my phone running stock, is much faster than any smartphone I have ever had.

i have maid the switch as well I us the phone mainly for calls text calendar email and surf the web it took a little getting use to it but the best move for me it also sync with your outlook that was a big + that seal the deal for me.

I've Blackberry user for years and am now ready to switch to the Rezound. Most of the BB users in my company have already switched to Android or iPhone and are extremely happy. Our company uses VZ and the only 4G devices available on LTE are the Android at this time.
I use my personal phone for work and personal emails and will be going to Rezound when my contract is up on 12-30

I was swayed to buy the Nexus from all the pre launch reviews suggesting it would blow all other Phones away and would have most flexibilty for Customizing which I misread as features instead of rooting etc. Also I was influenced by reading it was the only Andoid with a built in Notification light (that is hit and miss).

Does the Rezound have the ability to flash an Led Notification light with an App to show you have received an Email or Text?

Remember that the Rezound has Sense, and that as part of their customizations HTC licensed ActiveSync and baked it into their email client. So it does indeed support push and in fact if you're using Exchange (like most corporate emails) you get full exchange capabilities.

You bet yer bippie it does, sms, mms email, push notifications, voicemail, reminders, alarms etc., It's customizable in settings for what you want it to notify you of. It also pops up in your notification bar as well. Even pop up on your lock screen ahortcuts if choose it to as well. You cannot go wrong w/ this phone based upon what you've said feature and usage wise. It truly is a powerhouse of a phone, well balanced for both biz and personal use.

The Rezounds LED is about the same as the curve 3g/8500. Maybe a little smaller. Some refer to it as a pinhole LED.

The LED is much too small to be useful IMO. I once had a Samsung Blackjack that had a big whopping LED which had different colors and flash intervals you could customize to for alerts. It's the only thing I truly miss about it. You could easily tell if you had a missed call, voicemail, sms, email, or appt you missed without ever touching the phone.

That is your answer to your title question. And yes, most Android phones have a notification light, I think the GNex just has the ability to have different colored lights, that's all. I also happily used a blackberry for years. At the time, great phone. Having used an Android phone since last March, I have no real desire to go back. However, I will admit, nothing handles email quite like a Blackberry. But Android using Activesync, or Gmail, or even a great 3rd party app like Maildroid will come close. Real close. Then you throw in all the other things that Android does right over Blackberry and there's no contest and no reason to ever look back. Admittedly, I'd be curious if one day RIM got its new OS going on phones and somehow partnered with Android like they sorta/kinda do with their playbook and you had a RIM phone with an Android Market. That would be nice. But that's not going to be for a while. If ever. So yeah, email works great. I can't say its true "push" though like it is through Blackberries BIS servers. With Gmail, its more of an Idle Push. And most of the mail applications allow you to set the "check for new emails every _____" setting so that it checks more and more frequently. But if you ran a test, you'd find that if your phone was sitting idle for say an hour with no activity and you sent an email to it from a computer, it would show up on your old blackberry first. Now I don't use a Business Exchange email account, so maybe that's different, but as much as I like the HTC stock email layout on my Thunderbolt, I ended up going with the Maildroid app. It ALWAYS got my Yahoo and IMAP emails quicker and didn't seem to be "polling" the same way that other apps like K9 do. Its a free app (the paid version has no adds, which I bought because I use email a lot and felt like it was worth it to support the developer). It also has the best customer support of ANY app I've ever seen. You get answers to your questions within hours, not days. That's insane. Maybe its all different with Sense 3.5, but I don't think so. Test it yourself and see. I'm here cuz I got my mom a Rezound which I think looks like an awesome phone so you're halfway there and once you use it for a while you'll wonder why you took so long to switch to an Android phone. So nice!

I switched from BB Storm 2 to Rezound after a great deal of trepidation. My primary concern was the ability to sync with MS Outlook on a single PC, as I read about the multitudes of business people extremely frustrated and angry about not being able to do that. But then I discovered MyPhoneExplorer and that problem was solved. The only two things that I miss from the BB times is that there doesn't appear to be any way to push POP3 email (I use K-9), and deleting Yahoo email on the PC doesn't delete it from the phone and vice versa, that is, one has to delete the damn thing in both places.

Make the switch from BB to Rezound. I did, and I'm glad I did. I use to get on Crackberry all the time and even wrote a thread on "How to Shrink an OS" that has about 73000 views. Android is so much better. I am now learning to Unlock bootloader and Root. Terminology is a lot different between BB and Android.

Almost every Android phone has a Notification LED. May I ask who told you the Galaxy Nexus was the only Android with a notification light?

Light Flow also lets you set repeating LED, vibrations, and sound notifications. Android also lets you set custom ringtones for each contact.
