Can GPS be affected by 4G outage?

I went to Disneyland yesterday and ran my GPS all day to get a trip report. With 4G out, I turned off mobile data. Incidentally, my battery life was GREAT! Even running GPS getting a point every 8 seconds, I had 50% left after 9 hours.

However, the actual GPS point log was fairly bad. This compared to GPS log tests I've run in my neighborhood which are usually very good.

My question is: can 4G triangulation actually help in getting a GPS point? I know that 4G has much less accuracy than GPS, but I wonder if it can be used in conjunction with GPS to give better accuracy.

I am not sure about the GPS question, but I was at Disneyland yesterday too!

I used foursquare often and although slow at getting info from foursquare, gps accuracy seemed normal. I was on. 1x until about 9pm

That's pretty funny. It was a nice day with relatively low crowds! I mainly went to see the latest DCA construction.

Anyhow... I am working on a GPS/Disneyland/location-based service for Disney fans like us. It's still a ways off but I think it will be very useful.

Not in my experience.
I used GPS yesterday despite being stuck on 1x, or 3G if I manually set it.

4g being out would not have an affect on the GPS but turning of mobile data would be the reason your logs were so off. Because with out mobile data you can't use Verizon's or Google's location service which help the Standalone GPS to get a more accurate location.

Edit: "aka" No mobile data = no information going to Google or Verizon for location services
