Can/Has anyone try/tried USB host mode with an OTG cable?

Was wondering if someone with a Moto X can try to see if nexus media import or nexus photo viewer will work on the X. For those who aren't familiar, Nexus media import is a NON-ROOT app that can be used to transfer files between your phone and a flash drive via an OTG cable through the micro USB port. The app is here.

This is the photo viewer app which tests the connection to the flash drive to see if NMI will work. it is free. NMI is $3.99

I have the nexus media importer from using it on my nexus 7. It seems to work on my moto x.
